AJS 9 Car Club

The AJS Car Club has been invited to attend The Hammerwhich Classic Car show on 29 September 2024, This is the second year the event has been run, the first Classic Car Show in October 2023 had over 150 cars attending.

If any of our members would like to attend and fly the "AJS flag", they would be very pleased to see you.

Hammerwich is midway between Lichfield and Burntwood, Staffordshire, and is approx. 20 miles north of Birmingham.

Great to see Peter H's Jensen out and about this weekend at a local event, Tractorfest, to raise money for Great Moulton Football Club. Peter reports that the car went well, but the driver needs to get back in practice changing gears!

Its a few years since I took the car out but , after an invite from our local car club, FORC= Fressingfield oily rag club, I joined their display at last weekends Rickinghall classic car show and as usual the AJS attracted lots of interest amongst the 300 on display, a great day out in the sun. Now looking forwards to the Club's annual meeting and meeting up with its great & friendly members.

On 9 May the Government announcement of a wide-ranging consultation about registration of historic vehicles.

The Federation of British Historic Motor Vehicles has issued a Press Release.explaining its provisional position on each of the areas subject to consultation and is asking for feedback (in an online questionnaire) to help shape its formal response to the consultation, on a topic of great importance.

We have been asked to share this information with all our members and wider historic vehicle friends (such as through social media).

We have another artist in the club. Colin G has painted this very fine watercolour of Peter's AJS Jensen. The car is up for sale, listed at the H & H Auction's at the Imperial War Museum Duxford on 13 March 2024. Link to website to follow.

AUSTRALIAN AJS FOR SALE. Mark is selling his late father Peter's AJS (AJS 519). It was restored ~10 years ago and is very tidy. There is lots of history, pictures etc. It drives perfectly using the original Autovac and a slight modification to the carburettor.All the lights work for night driving and turning indicators are fitted. Had a nice tootle out with the wife yesterday, fairly new to vintage car / AJS ownership , hoping to get an entry on some vscc trials this year , (AJS number 29 - I can see some of its past history on here🤗).

AJS CAR FOR SALE - Dave is selling his AJS 9 metal bodied saloon. This car was originally owned by Jack Stevens (one of the founders of AJS) and passed to his daughters Margery & Ruby Stevens, it remained in the Stevens family until 1985. It features in Montagues book "Lost Causes of Motoring". If you are interested in acquiring this little bit of history, please send us a message and we will put you in touch with Dave. Not posted anything for a while, so, prompted by an article on Jane Hill in A156, here are a few pictures of "Women behind the Wheel", including a few repeats. Any more out there?

Recently spied at a car rally, from left to right, a Clyno, AJS (A396) and a Stevens 3 wheel van. For everyone that knows AJS's history it's fantastic to see these all together.

Fresh from the VSCC archives is this photo of John's old car with daughter Katy at the wheel competing in a VSCC trial or driving test in the early 1990's. Hopefully more to add to the album soon.
