Yesterday we had a visitor in Diglis, Worcester.
This curious Grey Heron came along the dock and had a very cinematic stroll in the rain with residents nearby taking this glamorous bird's pictures.
Besides their obvious star quality, grey herons are quite opportunistic feeders, and they won't hesitate to steal a fish from a fisherman if it's within reach.
There have been many reports of grey herons swooping down and snatching fish from fishermen's lines, or even landing on fishermen's boats and taking fish from their nets.
Of course, grey herons are just trying to survive, and they're not really trying to be mischievous. But it's still funny to think of a bird stealing fish from humans.
Pretty pretty Edinburgh, this city is such a mood.
The general architecture of the old town part of Birmingham is a mix of Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian styles.
Many of the buildings are made of red brick and feature large windows, ornate doorways, and cast iron detailing giving it that romanticised historical look.
Trying to stay awake today, much like this buck.
Deer are prey animals, so they need to be constantly on the lookout for predators. Sleeping with their heads up allows them to quickly scan their surroundings and wake up if they sense danger.
Happy !
Here are some chunky hippo pics to mark the occasion.
Fun fact, Hippos sweat pink!
Yes, you read that right. Hippos sweat a red-colored substance called hipposudoric acid, which helps to protect their skin from the sun and bacteria.
One of the most gracious and beautiful animals to walk the earth, the elephant.
Fun fact, elephants can communicate with each other using infrasound, which is sound waves that are below the range of human hearing.
Infrasound can travel long distances, so it is a way for elephants to communicate with each other over large areas.
Just a little tender giraffe moment, don’t we all need a cuddle sometimes?
Giraffes are often seen as gentle giants, and for good reason. They are known for their long necks and graceful bodies, but they also have a surprising amount of tenderness.
Necking is a behavior that giraffes engage in to show affection.
I love coming back to Bucharest and hitting all of my favourite old spots.
Despite the 35 C degrees heatwave we're experiencing, I braved through and made my way yesterday to this magical place.
Here you have the Carturesti Library located in the old City Center.
It is housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century building that was originally the headquarters of the Chrissoveloni banking dynasty. The bookstore has six floors, over 10,000 books, and a bistro on the top floor.
Would you ever visit this place?
Looking at your friend taking that last cookie…
Probably not what this macaque was thinking but don’t you just find it funny when they eat and suddenly look well concerned for no reason?
This big guy lives at the city zoo in Helsinki what appeared to be quite a comfortable life. As I was taking his photos he was munching away at a few frozen bunnies tossed in his pool earlier on by the caretakers.
Unfortunately for Siberian Tigers captivity and breeding programmes are much needed as the species faces near extinction with only 400 left in the wild currently due habitat loss and poaching.
With recent efforts increasing to protect this giant, hopefully we can bring back our biggest cat to healthy numbers in the future.
Fun fact about Siberian Tigers, they are so big that they can't roar. Instead, they make a low-pitched grunting sound that is sometimes mistaken for a bear.
This is because their vocal cords are too large to produce the high-pitched sound of a roar. However, they can still make a loud growling sound that is just as intimidating.
This little buddy woke up early in the morning to catch a scrumptious breakfast and just look what a good hunter he is.
White wagtails wag their tails to communicate with each other. The speed and direction of the wagtail's tail can indicate a variety of things, such as its mood, its status in the hierarchy, or its intention to mate.
For example, a white wagtail that is wagging its tail rapidly and excitedly is likely to be feeling happy or excited and needless to say this little one was wagging away in delight.
One of the most impressive sights in Bali are the statues, from small icons in personal shrines to gigantic works of art, they mark part of the Balinese atmosphere and beyond their visual appeal, they carry cultural significance.
What beautiful and majestic animals bisons are. I've captured a few shots of this beauty while in Finland earlier this month and the harsh mid-day light was a perfect touch.
A fun fact about European bisons, also known as wisents, is that they are the heaviest land animals in Europe. Adult males can weigh up to 2,000 kilograms (4,400 pounds) and stand over two meters (six and a half feet) tall at the shoulder. Despite their massive size, they are surprisingly agile and can run at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour (64 kilometres per hour). These magnificent creatures have made a remarkable comeback from the brink of extinction and are now considered a conservation success story.
Iconic Singapore, with the gloomy weather the U.K. has been seeing lately, I’m dreaming of going back to this tropical Paradise. 🍹

A little late in posting but thought of sharing a few snips from the lovely experience I had attending the Midsummer Festival.
Although my first time attending the celebrations, it will definitely not be the last.🌅
Meet the dwarf mongoose, the smallest mongoose in the world! These adorable creatures are found in Africa and are known for their social behavior and playful nature.
Dwarf mongooses are amazing creatures! They're one of the few animals that can actually play dead to avoid predators. They're also very social animals and live in groups of up to 30 individuals.
This little fellow paid us a visit at the Midsummer Festival last week in Helsinki, looking for some nibbles.
I'm so lucky to have gotten this shot of a red squirrel in Finland. These creatures are so fast and elusive, it's hard to get a good photo of them.
I love summer and all its beautiful shapes and colours. No need to go far, walk to your nearby meadow and take 5 minutes to just admire the beauty and busyness of it.
Take a look at this little guy, a Thick-legged flower beetle shining like a little green precious gem in the bright sun.
Thick-legged flower beetles play a role in pollination as they visit flowers to feed on nectar and pollen. They also contribute to nutrient recycling by consuming decaying plant material as larvae.
Be it beauty or function, nature always has both.
I love love love capturing funny moments in my wildlife photography, here is a wetlands Coot admiring himself in the water then giving the camera a quick ,,Whatcha looking at?”.
Today I visited the Christopher Cadbury Wetland Reserve and its lovely bird hides. Here you can spot a variety of birds from little ringedplovers, lapwings, avocets and many more.
Avocets are wading birds with long, upturned bills. They are found in wetlands around the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Avocets are about the size of a heron, and they have long, slender legs and a long, thin bill. Their plumage is white with black markings, and they have a black cap on their heads.
Avocets are an important part of the wetland ecosystem. They help to control populations of insects and other small animals, and they also help to spread seeds. Avocets are also a popular birdwatching species, and they attract visitors to wetlands all over the world.
I can't picture many better mornings than waking up here with a cup of hot coffee in your hand.
So extremely excited to go back this summer for a full Romania series, covering its rugged landscapes, diverse wildlife and cultural events.
Counting down the days ⏳
For anyone in Worcester or planning a visit soon, I would love to recommend you join the Wild About Worcester Way Launch Event tomorrow and take a stroll on the gorgeous nature walk marked by a lovely local organisation called the Worcester Environmental Group.
It's a great way to rediscover the natural beauty surrounding the city and reconnect with our home. Thank you The WEG - Worcester Environmental Group for reminding us of that and all the great work all of the volunteers have done.
Tomorrow is the day! All are most welcome to join us in this celebration.
The sky was pretty amazing yesterday with multiple patterns happening in a small area.
What a delight 🌅
I definitely have an affinity for beautiful tree and this one certainly caught my attention.
The first beauty can be found in Cherry Orchard, a local nature reserve in Worcester, England. It is located on the River Severn flood plain to the south of the city. The reserve is about 12.5 hectares in area and was designated a Local Nature Reserve in 2003.
Cherry Orchard is a haven for wildlife. It is home to a variety of birds, mammals, insects, and reptiles. The reserve is also a good place to see wildflowers, including orchids, bluebells, and primroses.
Second is in Offerton Lane Nature Reserve and of course the lovely Gheluvelt Park marks number 3.
Sometime you get a few shots in of a group of animals interacting and it is an amazing experience, however, at other times you have one character in particular just shining their beautiful selves and perhaps out-staging the others in the process.
Here is what I like to call as ,,Main Star Energy’’.
This little guy was just hopping around the park, enjoying the sunshine. I'm officially in a Disney movie.
The beauty of Worcester Cathedral is breathtaking. It's a place where you can truly feel the power of history.
The present cathedral church was built between 1084 and 1504, and represents every style of English architecture from Norman to Perpendicular Gothic. It is famous for its Norman crypt and unique chapter house, its unusual Transitional Gothic bays, its fine woodwork, and its "exquisite" central tower, which is of particularly fine proportions.
Had the best week with lots of sunshine, trekking around Worcester’s woods and snapping away at the gorgeous sceneries.
Lucky me to call this place my home💚
If you find yourself visiting Worcester this bank holiday, make sure to take a stroll in Cherry Orchard to enjoy a gorgeous view of the Malvern Hills.
Cherry Orchard Local Nature Reserve is a 12.5 hectare site of natural beauty located in the Diglis area of Worcester, on the River Severn flood plain to the south of the City. It is bordered to the west by the river and to the south by Duck Brook.
