Emily Grace Vintage
Sharing my passion for French and English Vintage Country Home
Sometimes, no matter how much you keep plugging away at things and planning, they were not meant to happen.
Having found and booked a fabulous, historic hotel, sorted a luxury coache and booked it for the sought-after dates, our planned Brocante trip to France next July is dead in the water.
As problems have arisen, I have rolled up my sleeves and attempted to solve them. I had sorted the necessary import paperwork for everyone's purchases, the visa applications that will be required and an information sheet about the need for biometric details needed for passport/border controls which will be running next year.
The next problem was the hotel saying that as it was a busy holiday weekend, they would not have restaurant reservations available, although disappointing, as their restaurant is fabulous, this wasn't a game changer, as the area has lots of great restaurants at all price ranges.
However, having been contacted by the hotel, who wished to add a significant surcharge for single occupancy and being told they had no twin rooms available ( despite having visited the hotel last month and discussing both these matters with the manager AND receiving assurances) I started to look for alternative accommodation.
Unfortunately, there are no available hotels left in the immediate area for the number of bookings required, due to the popularity of the Brocante.
It is not viable for me to place small groups in a variety of hotels, so I looked at the surrounding areas.
Having found a suitable hotel, some 15km away, I went back to the coach company to re organise the itinerary. In the mean time the coach company had become aware of the new biometric measures coming in at Border Control, which will add an extra 2 hours to the time that the driver is required to be on duty with the coach. They came back to me with a revised invoice, which makes it impossible to run the trip at the original quoted cost per person
I am afraid, that was the straw that broke the camels back and I have had to make the decision to cancel the trip. I am so disappointed, as so many of you were joining us, who had traveled with us previously and can only apologize from the bottom of my ❤️

For those of you who have recently liked this page or didn't know, Emily Grace Vintage is named after my lovely grand daughter.
I needed a new start after closing my shop and an exhausting few years of ill health. Under my new name I trade in English and French Country Home items , including small pieces of painted furniture and soft furnishings, often made from vintage fabrics.
As well as my presence here, I can also be found under my own name (Heather Gaylard ) on Instagram and in the back room at Jenny Wood Antiques in Worcester. I co-run 2 beautiful vintage fairs and (both on insta) with the lovely Natalie Peartreedesigns2012
I can be found later this month at in Toddington (17th August) and at various fairs run by in the beautiful East Yorkshire town of Howden.

I was reminded yesterday by a lovely friend, how much I love vintage miniature books. This lovely pair with their own case and beautiful inscription will be going with me to my next fair
Before the pandemic, I ran short trips to Brocantes in Northen France. Although I have had a lot of requests to start them up again, life has been very complicated during the last few years and that, combined with post Brexit
complications, left me reluctant to start up again
This weekend I was inundated with requests and one very special lady, who had been part of a fantastic group who had traveled with me in 2019, emailed me.
This particular lady had been incredibly brave over the last few years, fighting serious illness and reminded me that life must be lived and enjoyed now and not put off for any reason.
A bit of a complicated introduction BUT.....
I WILL be running a trip from Worcester from July 12th to 15th 2025. We will travel by luxury coach to Montreuil sur Mer, where we will stay in a beautiful historic hotel. Board is B & B and we will have a trip to the Art Deco resort of Le Touquet, followed by a visit to the WW1 graveyard at Etaples, designed by Lutyens.
There will be time for a walk around the Ramparts and a picnic, plus the star of the show.....the wonderful Brocante on Bastille Day.
My list is already filling up, but please DM me if you are interested in joining the lovely group of people who are already joining me.
Before the pandemic, I was lucky enough to run 4 day trips to Northern France, in mid July to a beautiful Brocante. Although Brexit has made life much more difficult to run such trips, I have been asked repeatedly, over the last few weeks if I would be willing to run another in July 25.
Before I go ahead, it would be a 4 day, 3 night trip staying in or around Montreuil sur Mer. Bed & Breakfast in Double rooms, so ideally for couples or someone you don't mind bunking in with. If there is enough interest I will put an itinerary together, which typically would be the Brocante, a market trip, either the Azingcourt museum or something similar, maybe a few hours by the sea and a visit to a WW1 cemetery. I would be hoping to keep costings to about £600 per person, including travel, B&B, coach hire etc. Once I know if there is enough interest I can make some firmer plans
What a day we had! Another made perfect by our wonderful stall holders and our tea room area run by . The sun shone, lovely customers came , truly wonderful. Must also mention my lovely, long-suffering hubby, Mike, who donned our special hi viz vest and manned the car park all day. ( my hero)
