Good luck to everyone getting their GCSE results today! My students and 1-2-1 tutees, you have all worked so incredibly hard and progressed so much I have no doubt you will all achieve fantastic things in life.
I’m proud of each and every one of you, learning is life long and this day is only page in your life story.
If you get an A* or an F the results don’t define you (see yesterdays post). Your work ethic is undeniable. Good luck 🤞🏼 and well done to you all👏🏻

(Sorry I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a dad joke!)

23/08/2023

Tomorrow is GSCE results day…… you’ll see social media (mine included) congratulating students on their results, you’ll see all the A* students opening their results live on tv and social media. What you won’t see are those students who didn’t get the grades they wanted/needed.
People will say grades don’t matter but we live in a society where unfortunately they do, however…. They are NOT the be all and end all…. They DO NOT define YOU!
So if tomorrow doesn’t go the way you wanted here are a few things for you to consider actioning.
1. Don’t panic!
Contact the college or Apprenticeship provider, they can help point you in the right direction.
2. Ask the provider if you can resit the exams along side your chosen course.
3. Go and speak to a careers advisor in college, they will help you make a plan.
4. Don’t bottle up your feelings. You are not a failure. This is a small bump or a diversion in the road.
I know someone who ‘failed’ their exams at school, went back to college at 32 to resit and passed GCSEs. They then did an Access course and out of 250+ students in the college achieved the highest grade. They then went on to University and smashed it and had a job offer mid way through the final year without even having a grade at that point!
Life isn’t a straight A to B. It has twists, turns, bumps in the road, diversions and mountains to climb. This may be a diversion but the road may just be the nicest you’ve traveled so far. Good luck for results day and I’m here if anyone needs anything. All my tutees have come on leaps and bounds and worked so so hard, I’m proud of all of you regardless of the results.

What a great message to receive last night. I tutor sisters in yeas 7 and 10 and this is the end of term progress update from their mum. They both work really hard and I am so pleased with the progress from them both! Keep it up girls, you’re both smashing it👊🏻💥

I’ve had a super busy week this week, sports day, school trips, enrichment week but this just summed up my evening yesterday…. Went out for a drive last night and this was actually me🤣 can anyone relate?

13/07/2023

Another gift from one of my tutees. This person has gone from really disliking maths to the point where it’s their favourite subject! They scored the 3rd highest in their end of year Maths test too👏🏻👏🏻 have a great birthday next week and enjoy the summer holidays 😊thank you again 😊

06/07/2023

Last night I had a wonderful surprise gift off one of my year 11 Tutees. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan. These will look fab with my growing collection in ‘The Shed’
Thanks so very much and (Annie-Mai) I’m absolutely made up. Bring on August 24th I know you’ll do really well as you worked so hard😊

23/06/2023

So with all the GCSE exams finished for this year, I’m sure this really will be a Happy Friday. A number of my year 11 tutees had their prom last night and all looked very smart and very grown up. I hope they all had a great night and Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Numeracy GCSE today😊I know I go on about it to my students and tutees but…… in the exam take a few seconds to take some deep breath’s even before you open the paper. This will help settle and focus you. Then, read the question….. twice, slowly. Highlight what it’s asking you to do and any relevant information. If you don’t know your times tables…. Write them down on the side of the page. Attempt every question, you never know what marks you can pick up but it will definitely be zero if you don’t attempt to answer it! If you have time go through the paper again at the end, make sure you haven’t missed any questions (check the back page) and finally, have faith in your ability. All you can do is your best. See you all on the other side😊🍀

05/06/2023

Good luck today to everyone doing exams 🍀. It’s English language today, stay calm, read and re read the question. Highlight what they are asking you highlight the key point ( look for 4 or 5) and just DO YOUR BEST😊 Make yourselves proud. 😊

26/05/2023

Today is the day that most year 11s leave school.
I wish you all the luck in the world in your next adventures be that sixth form, college, apprenticeships or work. What ever you do, do it because YOU want to, not because your friends are doing it, not because your parents want you to do it.
Be yourselves, and remember what ever you choose to do next isn’t set in stone, it’s ok to change your mind and the direction you take. Change is good.
Enjoy your last day In compulsory education
🎉🥳🎓🕺🏼💃🏻

I hope everyone’s Maths Exam went well yesterday ……but try not to stress if it didn’t go to plan. Draw a line under it. All you can do is your best. It’s English literature today 📚 stay calm, read and re read the question. Highlight what they are asking you and just DO YOUR BEST😊 Make yourselves proud. 😊

It’s the last day of the week and the last exams of the week too! Numeracy Exam today! Make sure you’ve got all the equipment you need. Take your time. Read the question slowly. Show your working out. Write your times tables out if you need too. Double check your answers. Believe in yourself 😊
Good luck🍀Do your best, make yourselves proud. 😊

Today is it’s the day some people have PE and English literature GCSE Exams. So another exam is done and it’s one day closer to the weekend!
I tell my students and tutees to take one exam at a time and one day at a time. Focusing on what’s in front of you, what you can see, hear, smell touch and even taste can help focus your mind. Remember you can only do your best!

16/05/2023

Happy Tuesday! Good luck to everyone with Biology GCSE today! Do your best, make yourselves proud. 😊

15/05/2023

Good luck to everyone with their exams over the next few weeks. All you can do is your best.

If you feel stressed in an exam and go blank. Put down your pen and look at your desk.
Start at one corner and take a slow deep breath in until you reach the next corner then blow out ( like your blowing 50 candles out) then when you get to the next corner repeat the breath cycle. Once you’ve done this you will feel calmer and ready to start again.

Go through the paper and answer the questions you know first. This will settle you down then, work your way through remembering to check the back page! I believe in you. You CAN do this. You ARE ready!

I’ve been super busy getting ready for the exams which started last week. Lost of revision sessions happening next week in preparation for numeracy but today, I’m having a quiet afternoon in the garden so I’m ready for a busy few weeks ahead moderating.

I have a 1-2-1 tutee who started with me in November who has gone from Maths being their worst subject in school and now it’s their best. I’d like to think thats from my influence 🤔😉 but in honesty now they have better knowledge they have confidence and actually enjoy Maths. They said they now have confidence to put their hand up and answer questions in class. I love hearing that people enjoy Maths😊👍🏻
