Following on from the Contemporary Glass Society’s (CGS) successful 25th Anniversary exhibition at the Stourbridge Glass Museum in 2022, we are returning to the Museum with the show ‘New Horizons’ in 2024.

This exhibition will showcase new work that has not been exhibited before, made by over 20 invited artists, using both traditional and modern methods of glass making. This contemporary work challenges and explores the boundaries of glass.
Glassmaking processes including hot glass, casting, kiln formed, pâte de verre, lampworking, neon and stained glass will be represented by the following artists: Anthony Amoako Attam, Emma Baker, Philip Baldwin and Monica Guggisberg, Heike Brachlow, Sarah Brown, Karen Browning, Penny Carter, James Devereux, Catherine Dunstan, Fiaz Elson, Dominic Fonde, Richard Jackson, Verity Pulford, Susan Purser Hope, Laura Quinn, Tim Rawlinson, Opal Seabrook, Ruth Shelley, Angela Thwaites and Brian Waugh.

New Horizons runs for four months from 13 July to 17 November 2024 and coincides with the Stourbridge-based International Festival of Glass and British Glass Biennale, which take place during the summer, so make sure to visit if you are coming to that event. Alongside this stunning display of work, CGS will be running supporting events, including artist talks and an opportunity to meet some of the makers.
This cornucopia of glass work reflects the dynamism and sheer talent of contemporary glass in this country and demonstrates how glass makers continue to develop and challenge our understanding of glass as an artistic medium.

The Stourbridge Glass Museum is an ideal venue to host this display of exemplary contemporary glass from CGS members. As well as highlighting glass from the present day, the Museum houses over 500 items from the internationally renowned Stourbridge Glass Collection, celebrating the heritage of glassmaking locally and internationally.

The other recent highlight was to sell this large wall piece through to a collector in America 💙🩵🤍

This unique showcase features the captivating work of selected glass artists from around the globe, each presenting a stunning sculpture limited to a maximum of 15 cm x 15cm x 15 cm format. It features work by Jeremy Sinkus and Laura Kramer from the USA and Balazs Telegdi from Hungary.

Bethany Wood founded Blowfish Glass Gallery to promote and sell high-end art from
prestigious glass artists worldwide. The gallery focuses on innovative glass sculpture, decorative art, and installations for home and large-scale interior design
projects.
Elliot Walker leads the highly experienced team within the hot glass workshop;
collaborating with distinguished artists and corporations. They boast high-level experience in glass design, knowledge and passion for the material, and an in-depth understanding of high-end, one-off projects and production.

Completely delighted that a grouping of my Mutualism work has been selected for in August. The National Eisteddfod is a cultural festival and I’m very proud to be living and working in Wales and to have be included this year and last. As an artist I consider myself very lucky for the support I am granted here in Wales as well as being part of a very supportive and friendly community ❤️🙏

A new series of Sea Collection bottles and other pieces are to be displayed with found natural objects from the Welsh coastline.

Last week I attended the annual fundraising luncheon to receive my QEST scholar certificate. I met the other wonderful makers who have been supported with QEST scholarships in the the last year and we displayed our work and had a rather lovely lunch! Many thanks to . I’m completely honoured to have been selected and very grateful for the chance to train with and to develop my glass casting knowledge. Some of my new work has already been selected for and 2024.

A new tattoo of some of my favourite plants -lichen, wood anemones, forgot me nots and ferns. Thank you for the beautiful bespoke design. I completely love it 🖤🖤🖤
