As always, we are committed to provide exceptional care for our service users and safeguarding is paramount within our line of work, this being said, we support staff development by attending regular training courses to continuously improve staff and children’s development and to ensure that we as a nursery, can provide the best possible care for the children who attend Puddleducks.

We have been super busy over the last couple of weeks, we have had lots of new starters, children transitioning into pre school and some who are about to start their new journey at school nursery. With this in mind, I would like to remind any parents or carers who may currently be searching for a nursery, or maybe parents to be, that we have spaces available at Puddleducks from September 2024. We have limited spaces for new starters to join before September.

We are a registered, grade GOOD nursery who take pride in taking care of children between 6 weeks to 11 years old. We offer a breakfast and after school provision at Butterfield parade in Eaglescliffe (near Sainsbury’s) and we also offer breakfast and after school club along with full day childcare, wrap around and ADHOC sessions at our other setting which is located on Yarm High Street.

Please contact us via email on [email protected] for enquiries.

Thank you.

This term at Puddleducks our topic is Life Cycles. We will be focusing on life cycles and the stages a living thing goes through in its life such as plants, animals and humans.

This afternoon at our after school club, we spoke about the life cycle of a plant. The children learnt a new long word which was ‘photosynthesis’. The children express their curiosity by asking questions such as ‘what are roots?’ And ‘when will my plant grow?’.

The children planted their own seeds using soil and a cup and they have been given the responsibility to take care of their own plant by watering them. We will observe our plants over the coming weeks as we watch them grow. 🌻

Photos from Puddleducks Childcare's post 17/04/2024

At our after school club, we made our own sandwiches, choosing from a selection of sandwich fillings such as Ham, Chicken, Cheese and Jam. This activity allows the children to get involved in daily tasks, such as making their own snack tea.

The children were able to demonstrate in which order a sandwich is made. One child said ‘ I get my bread and put butter on and then I get some ham and some more bread’.

The children enjoyed being involved and this activity promotes children’s independence and additional skills such as their physical development when they cut their bread and spread their jam and/or butter. This also supports hand-eye coordination. This activity supports PSE as we enhance independence skills, decision making and taking turns.

The upcoming expansion
Starting from April 2024, existing childcare support will be expanded in phases. By September 2025, most working families with children under the age of 5 will be entitled to 30 hours of childcare support.

The changes are being introduced gradually to make sure that providers can meet the needs of more families. This means that:

From April 2024, working parents of 2-year-olds will be able to access 15 hours childcare support.

From September 2024, 15 hours childcare support will be extended to working parents of children from the age of 9 months to 3-year-olds.

From September 2025, working parents of children under the age of 5 will be entitled to 30 hours of childcare a week.

Like the existing offer, depending on your provider, these hours can be used over 38 weeks of the year (during school term time), or up to 52 weeks if you use fewer than your total hours per week.

World mental health day 2023 💛

This morning the children sat with the practitioners and spoke about how they feel.

We explored emotions such as sad, happy, nervous and angry, with some of the children pulling the different facial expressions.

This is a great way to help children feel validated for feeling a certain way and it also helps children to understand that at different times we may experience different emotions. This activity links with personal, social and emotional development and helps children to become self aware.

Welcoming Autumn into our play 🍂🍁🍃

This simple invitation to play lead to hours of fun and enhanced our exploration skills. We explored textures and imprinting using the pinecones, sticks and leaves. We practiced our imaginary play and our fine motor skills.

We haven’t been very active on our public account much recently but we would love to share with you all some of the fun things that we have been getting up to. Here are only a few of the many activities that the wonderful girls at Puddleducks have set up for the children who attend. At Puddleducks, we pride ourselves in planning activities around each child’s individual needs and interests and we know that the children learn best when they are interested and engaged. We also focus on planning activities which suit each child’s interests so that the activity is meaningful and relevant as well as able to allow the children to explore their curiosity and wonder. Planning activities for the children also supports their development. Over the last few months, we have visited many, many of our local parks, we have seen and fed the ducks, we have visited the farm, we have been to the cinema, we have gotten wet, messy and sticky but most of all, we have all had fun and made lots and lots of happy memories.

We currently have some spaces available at Puddleducks in our Babies, Tweenies, Pre-school and breakfast and after club club. Why not start your child’s story now at our home to home environment? If you would like any information then please contact the setting via our email address - [email protected] or alternatively you can contact us via our Facebook messenger and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
