Please take a minute to read this and just maybe you'll get it.... πŸ’šπŸŒπŸ™

What happens when you call a gardener to do a 'good cut back'? I'll tell you.......
They rock up with their petrol or electric equipment and crack on, nice and quick and the jobs done, but at what cost?

No matter the time of year, I approach all my jobs with the expectation of disturbing wildlife from its comfortable home and this video is a perfect example.

Whilst cutting back a huge wisteria today (with my secateurs) I came across this little one, just terrified that I'm going to destroy it's home. I didn't!

My customers were incredibly understanding and supportive and agreed to leave the lump of wisteria around the nest until the chick has fledged.

If I'd have gone at the wisteria with power tools this chick would have had no chance and, instead of mum watching me work carefully around her baby, she could have watched her baby be brutally chopped up and killed.

Please take a minute to consider our wildlife and ask your gardener if they do!

Last week I turned down a Β£300 job just for this reason, no amount of money will allow me to commit this kind of murder on any living thing. The customer replied 'but I watch Springwatch and all the birds have finished nesting', afraid not. There's a reason there's a hedge cutting law in place that prevents hedge cutting from March to September.

Well still no sign of summer but, I think these spots have brought some sunshine to people's day as they wander on by.....

A massive thank you to Simon Bowen for his incredible videography and editing skills and to my buddy Dan Wainwright for letting us use his beautiful music for this video.
And a huge thank you for everyone's continued support.

This space is just under 1000msq split over 5 areas that are now full bloom uk native meadows. A safe haven for wildlife to be left alone all summer long which would have been grass areas speradically cut by the council and left generally untidy, unattractive and a green space defined only by colour!

Here's How And When To See June's Planetary Parade 02/06/2024

One not to miss πŸ’šπŸŒπŸ’šπŸŒŒ

Here's How And When To See June's Planetary Parade Six planets will align on the same side of the sun, causing them to appear to be in a straight light, though only Mars and Saturn will be visible to the naked eye, while Neptune and Uranus will require equipment and Jupiter and Mars most likely won’t be visible at all.

Photos from Plantlife: saving wild plants's post 01/06/2024

Well Plantlife: saving wild plants No Mow May campaign is over and although they promise that their campaign isn't just a business and greenwashing campaign they seem to have forgotten to promote their next campaign of, Let It Bloom June!

Obviously this isn't a surprise at all, we know their business strategy and their main aim and it isn't to educate people and create a cleaner and better environment for all that lives on this planet.....

If you've taken part in this campaign then well done because you are wanting to make a difference but I now ask you to leave some of that area you've left in May to grow wild all summer long.

If anyone needs any advice please don't hesitate to contact me

What a beauty! πŸ’šπŸŒ

Wow, look what I found today....

The Elephant Hawk Moth.

Because I work without power tools and always on the look out for wildlife I may disturb or potentially hurt, I came across this beautiful wonder. If I'd have been strimming it wouldn't have survived or, if I used a w**d killer it'd die a death of chemical warfare, luckily this moth will remain safe and hopefully live a full life.

My first pond for a customer finished today.

It just needs some plants and it'll be a wonderful place for wildlife. The rockery to the side will provide a perfect safe place for frogs, toads and whatever else wishes to call it home.

I am very greatful to be able to create these spaces for nature in people's gardens. We may not be able to have a big impact imdividually on a national or glabal scale but, if enough of us do a little something in our green spaces then together we can create change, but only together.

One in six UK species in danger of extinction 06/05/2024

Why I do what I do πŸ’šπŸŒ

The State of Nature report, published on 27 September brought together data from 64 conservation and research organisations. It found that the abundance of species in the UK has declined by an average of 19% since 1970, with almost one in six (16%) in danger of extinction from Great Britain. But mammals like the Hazel dormouse have seen their population decline in Britain by 51% since 2000. 54% of flowering plants have also seen their distributions reduced
