Revive Us Again
Rejuvenating a movement of spiritual and social transformation.
What religion do I preach? The religion of love; the law of kindness brought to light by the gospel. What is it good for? To make all who receive it enjoy God and themselves: to make them like God; lovers of all; content in their lives; and crying out at their death, in calm assurance ‘O grave, where is thy victory! Thanks be unto God, who giveth me the victory, through my Lord Jesus Christ. ~ John Wesley (An Earnest Appeal to Men of Reason and Religion, 19.11.54)
Hard to believe it’s already a year since Revive Us Again was published. I’m very grateful for all the opportunities I have been offered to present the themes I explore in that book…. And my continuing conviction and passion that the ‘people called Methodists’ can be rejuvenated as a movement of transformation in the 21st century - by reclaiming the treasure of our early, formative days.

Nine months on from first publication, I am humbled and delighted by the conversation and interest that my book, Revive Us Again, continues to stimulate.
And grateful too for interest from beyond The Methodist Church in its themes of renewal and rejuvenation. Thank you so much Andrew Vertigan for this endorsement:
"This book cries out to me! Why? Because it’s filled with passion, grace, holiness, generosity and the call to give it all away: the keys to revival and transformation."

In Revive Us Again (https://amzn.eu/d/dEpifkV) I encourage us, the people called Methodists, to rediscover Wesley's insight of the potential that creating and treasuring 'spaces for grace' offer for spiritual and social transformation. This lovely reflection by Jon Kuhrt echoes and amplifies this message. https://gracetruth.blog/2024/05/17/finding-space-for-grace/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0bdkRtkTe2xTh4-AEludzC171ghZlbzokFqaOXMyTULWv7BpjWLRdTe-k_aem_Ad9x-qH4jwP2it6HUK8m7QGdfLbNp9MuSVkc4wZuzObbvm2-_7rK4ptLaSQ28S2BdItfSYds4cHH6JfNpy1aSvfA
Finding space for grace The chapel at Scargill, Yorkshire, UK After Easter, I felt I needed a week off work and cleared my diary for a week in May without a firm idea of what I would do. I thought a retreat would be…
A privilege to share with Paul W. Chilcote in leading a Study Day reflecting on our Wesleyan treasures for the 21st Century as explored in our recent books.
"For 'the people called Methodists' grace is nothing less than the defining, shaping and underpinning energy that flows at the very heart of the movement. Grace is the fuel that energises the growth of God’s people in holiness."

Theology Book Club - 13th February An interactive book club for anyone interested in thinking about faith and mission through Leslie Newton's book 'Revive Us Again'.
I've been so grateful for generous and kind feedback on my recent book, Revive Us Again.
Not least this lovely endorsement by Jonathan Dean: "Leslie Newton brings to this book both a deep-rootedness in Methodist theology and broad experience of Methodist mission in the world. Infused with his passion for and commitment to both, the result is an inspiring, challenging, honest and ultimately hopeful vision of how contemporary Methodism might “serve the present age” with courage, confidence and insight. I highly recommend this book."

Well, this Christmas morning’s Amazon listing confirmed Revive Us Again had fought off the challenge of both the air fryer cook book and a late rally from Singing the Faith! 🤣🤣
Seriously though, thank you to everyone for your interest and engagement.
And in the midst of a world in such desperate darkness and need, let’s continue to seek more of God’s grace, that we might fulfil our divinely appointed mission of spiritual and social transformation.
Wishing everyone a healthy and hope-filled Christmas.
