Our new space for new and expectant parents starts next Tuesday, 17 September! Pop in anytime between 11am and 12.30pm for a relaxed, informal chance to get-together and chat with other parents and carers. The Friends of Dringhouses Library AGM is today! Join the Friends from 6pm for an update on all the lovely things they've done for the library since last year, and hear local historian Dorothy Reed talk about how to research your local history, and how she tracked down the elusive Annabel Dott, 'tiresome' lady architect and wife of the vicar of Dringhouses in WW1. All welcome.
Have you got a new small person in your life, or know someone who has? We're launching a new informal space for new and expectant parents/carers. Join us on Tuesday 17 September from 11am for coffee, chat and a chance to share experiences with other parents. Babies welcome too, of course, we'll provide some toys and a place to have a wriggle or a roll while their parents chat.
Local Historian Dorothy Reed will tell a story of opportunities, disappointments, and perserverence, when researching an elusive historical figure. Also hear about all the great improvements to the library the Friends of Dringhouses Library have made this year at their AGM. All welcome, Thursday 12 September 6pm.

Come along and hear about all the great work of the Friends of Dringhouses Library, constantly supporting and improving our building and services. Then listen to local historian Dorothy Reed talk about the challenges of uncovering detail about a historical figure when information and even pictures are very elusive. Make a steampunk clock! Join author Dawn Treacher, next Thursday 29 August at 3pm, for our next event. Hear about 'Lost in Time' Dawn's book about a time-travelling mouse, and make some crazy clocks of your own. Suitable for children 7+, free but booking required.

The event will include live performances on York Explore Library and Archive's library lawn, an Map Attack Lego event, and stained-glass crafting sessions, amongst much more. There will also be a fundraising tombola on the day.

Local French speaking tutor Barbara will lead a totally informal hour of French conversation. Suitable for all levels, from 20 year old schoolgirl French to confident regular travellers. Refreshments courtesy of the Friends of Dringhouses Library.
