Pavilion Cross-Occupancies is part of , a European project with the participation of Fundació Mies van der Rohe aiming to strengthen architectural culture across the continent by documenting, researching, and valuing common temporary spaces, questioning notions of permanence and stability associated with the spatial dimension of architecture.

The exhibition will be accessible until November 26th.

At the 18th International Architecture Exhibition, the Georgian National Pavilion explores the utilisation of natural resources and energy migration, delving into both social and metaphorical aspects. The main focus of the research became water, one of the country's crucial resources.
One of the components of the pavilion is an installation inspired notably by the Jvaripatiosani Basilica in the Zhinvali Dam. The structure remains mostly submerged throughout the year and can only be seen during January, February, and March.
The work represents the negative shape of the basilica's interior and emphasises the interplay between emptiness and mass. Blocks made from mud obtained from the local river are used as materials.

პროექტი 'იანვარი თებერვალი მარტი' საქართველოს კულტურის, სპორტისა და ახალგაზრდობის სამინისტროს მიერ გამოცხადებულ შესარჩევ კონკურსში გამარჯვებულად გამოვლინდა.
'იანვარი თებერვალი მარტი' დროის დინებისა და ენერგიის ურთიერთმიმართებას იკვლევს. თვითნაბადი სიცოცხლის - ენერგიის, მისი ათვისების, განაწილებისა და შენარჩუნების ადამიანურ მეთოდებს - ენერგიის პოლიტიკას; ამ პოლიტიკის დროებითობასა თუ მუდმივობას საერთო ისტორიულ რეალობაში. მკვდარი და ცოცხალი ბუნების ვიზუალური და სტრუქტურული დაპირისპირებით, პროექტი სიმბოლურად ფოკუსირება წყალსაცავებზე, მათ გაჩენაზე და მათი ზეგავლენით გამოწვეულ ეკოლოგიურ, ურბანულ და დემოგრაფიულ ცვლილებებზე. ნამუშევრის მთავარი იდეა კვლევის პროცესში ნაპოვნი არტეფაქტებით არის შთაგონებული. მისი მცდელობა ადგილის მეხსიერების პრიმიტიული არქეტიპების მეშვეობით რეკონსტრუქციაა - ქალაქი, ქუჩა, სახლი, ეკლესია... დამშრალი მდინარეების გარშემო ჩამოყალიბებული ცოცხალი და უსიცოცხლო ლანდშაფტების თანაკვეთა მეტაფორულად უკავშირდება დალექილი შლამის მასალისგან ჩამოყალიბებულ, ჩაძირულ აბსტრაქტულ ფორმას.

We are glad that Tbilisi Architecture Biennial team was chosen to present the Georgian National Pavilion at the 18th Venice Biennale of Architecture.
Project 'january february march' was selected as the winner in the national competition announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia.
'january february march' explores the relationship between the flow of time and energy. Energy, as an initial life force, its human consumption, distribution, and preservation constitute energy politics. The temporality or permanence of such politics is captured within the shared historical reality. By juxtaposing representations of dead and living nature structurally and visually, the project symbolically focuses on reservoirs, their creation, and their impact on ecological, urban, and demographic changes. The work is inspired by the artefacts discovered during the research process. The project attempts to reconstruct the spatial memory of the area through primitive archetypes – a city, a house, a church…The intersection of the living and lifeless landscapes formed around the dried-up rivers metaphorically connects to a sunken abstract form composed of sedimented sludge material.

ჩვენი პროექტი “იანვარი, თებერვალი, მარტი” საქართველოს კულტურის, სპორტისა და ახალგაზრდობის სამინისტროს მიერ გამოცხადებულ შესარჩევ კონკურსში გამარჯვებულად გამოვლინდა.
