“The country consumed 2,976 ktoe of wood fuel in 2020 for energy purposes which accounts for about 34% of the country’s final energy consumption, with charcoal accounting for 51% of total wood fuel consumed. Charcoal consumption in Ghana 🇬🇭 is expected to increase from 773 ktoe in 2020 to 905 ktoe in 2030.”- Energy commission Report 2022

With the above situation, our country’s biodiversity is highly threatened.
The increased in biodiversity loss among other factors has necessitated the YES project to commissioned Charcoal & biomass briquettes training for young people as a sustainable means of livelihoods. Participants will be using “waste” from coconut 🥥, rice processing, sawdust, paper, agriculture etc.
