Rotary Club of Demerara Collaborates with Ministry of Health for NAPS Youth Camp in Kuru Kuru

On Sunday, August 4th, 2024, the Rotary Club of Demerara proudly participated in the National AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS) annual youth camp in Kuru Kururu. This year, the camp focused on empowering youths aged 5 to 22 through a series of engaging and educational activities.

The day was filled with diverse learning sessions and fun activities. Past Assistant Governor (PAG) Renata kicked off the event with an inspiring session on entrepreneurship, sparking creativity and ambition among the young participants. Immediate Past President (IPP) Lance teamed up with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) to teach the art of knot tying, providing practical skills and fostering teamwork.

Rotarian Dominique engaged children aged 12 and under in a lively beginners' hockey session, while teens received valuable lessons in money management from Rotarian Alicia. Additionally, Rotarian Shivanie presented on health and hygiene, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good personal care practices.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) praised the event and expressed interest in future collaborations, encouraging the Rotary Club of Demerara to consider making this initiative an annual tradition. The positive feedback and enthusiastic participation from approximately 50 youths highlighted the success of the camp.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Health, the Guyana Defence Force, the NAPS Programme Manager Dr. Tariq and his team, and our dedicated Rotarian presenters: PAG Renata, IPP Lancelot, Rtn. Alicia, Rtn. Dominique, and Rtn. Shivanie. Your contributions made this day both memorable and impactful.
