Congratulations to Zheng Qinwen on becoming the first Chinese player to win an Olympic tennis singles gold medal! The 21-year-old secured a decisive 6-2, 6-3 victory over Croatia’s Donna Vekic in a tense final on Saturday.

This historic triumph adds to China’s growing success in Olympic tennis. In 2004, Li Ting and Sun Tiantian won the women’s doubles gold, while Li Na reached the semifinals in the singles event in 2008. The recent silver medal in mixed doubles for Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen has further cemented China’s status as a rising force in the sport.

Zheng Qinwen’s victory, coupled with the impressive performances of Wang and Zhang, showcase the depth of talent within the Chinese tennis academy. This is a momentous achievement that will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of Chinese tennis stars.

LONDON – The ATP Tour announced today a new partnership with PacificPine Sports (PPS) to create a range of world-class ATP-licensed tennis centres in China and Hong Kong.
 
The multi-year partnership, which begins in 2023, is an exciting opportunity for the ATP to engage with junior tennis players and young fans locally, expand opportunities in the sport, and for ATP Coach members to share their expert knowledge with players in a fast-growing region.
"We are thrilled to partner with PacificPine Sports to accelerate opportunities and share our expertise in Asia,” said Daniele Sano, ATP Tour Chief Business Officer. "This partnership will allow us to connect with aspiring players and passionate fans in an important market.”
The centres, which will be run by PPS, will offer members and local staff access to ATP Coaches, Alumni and Medical Services Team. PPS will have rights to use ATP Tour brand marks in promotional, advertising and marketing materials.
The new partnership follows several successful collaborations between PPS and major global sports brands in the region, including the PGA of America and AC Milan. It builds on several decades of tennis development by ATP in the region.
"We are excited to work with the ATP Tour to bring world-class tennis experiences to China and Hong Kong” said a Raymond Roessel Co-CEO of PPS. One of only two GPTCA Level A and ATP Tour Certified professional tour coaches in Hong Kong, Bill is a Grand Slam credentialed professional tour coach with over 28 Grand Slam credentials and over 35-years’ experience on the WTA Tour, ITF Pro and Junior Circuits, including coaching top-50 players who represented their countries in Fed Cup, Davis Cup and the Olympic Games, as well as WTA Tour and ITF Pro Circuit title winners.
