‘Devil or Angel’ by
transforms modified porcelain doll figures into visually striking art. Delicately balanced within lengthy PVC tubes, these broken porcelain figures showcase a stark contrast to their usually pristine nature, encouraging viewers to appreciate the beauty in imperfection.

Yang’s use of these figures prompts reflection on themes of purity and innocence, as well as the allure of fragmented forms, transcending the somber themes often associated with destruction or violence in busy environments.

’s ‘Terrestrial Tapestry’ is a triptych painting that intricately weaves together the themes of humanity, nature, and serenity.

With each of the three panels portraying different aspects of terrestrial life, the work encourages viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of all living beings.

📜⚪ - Su Xiaobai

Chinese-born artist Su Xiaobai creates strikingly contemporary works that merge the language of international art, shaped by his studies in Germany, with an aesthetic and philosophical approach deeply grounded in Chinese tradition.

Central to Su Xiaobai’s artistic philosophy is the principle of self-restraint. His ability to convey a vast vision through minimalistic forms has established him as one of the most profound artists exploring the theme of existence through art since the era of Abstract Expressionism.

Pearl Lam Galleries is thrilled to announce its Asian representation of Nigerian
artist Samuel Nnorom (). Nnorom is a multi-award-winning artist whose work poetically crosses tapestrylike sculpture and pre-loved Ankara wax fabric.

Born in Nigeria in 1990, the elements that now shape Nnorom’s contemporary practice have surrounded him since early childhood: sketching portraits of customers who visited his father’s shoe shop and playing with colourful scraps from his mother’s tailoring workshop crystallised his artistic vocation.

Nnorom’s body of work is typically constructed from pieces of Ankara/African wax print fabric scraps collected from tailors or cast-off clothing from homes, along with discarded foam from furniture workshops that are wrapped and stitched into bubbles of various colours and sizes. Through actions like sewing, rolling, tying, stringing, twisting, and suspending, he poetically navigates the boundaries between textile, painting, and sculpture.

“We are happy to welcome Samuel Nnorom to Pearl Lam Galleries,” says Pearl Lam, Founder of Pearl Lam Galleries. “His innovative textile-based practice and poetic explorations of the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and craft make him a perfect fit for our program. We look forward to introducing his work to new audiences across Asia.”

🌿🪞 - Zhu Jinshi

Zhu Jinshi employs palettes, wall trowels, wooden shovels, and fifteen-centimetre brushes to apply heavy colours of paint onto the canvas, rendering his works sculptural and conceptual by developing a self-contained visual system.

Through his art, Zhu expresses his vision of harmony between human beings and the
natural world. Their titles are often specific, reminding the viewer that, although abstract, Zhu’s works are deeply rooted in metaphors.

🌼✨️ - Michal Korman (.artist)

Finding joy in the natural world, Michal Korman channels the beauty of flowers, gardens, and nature into his art. Using flat solid oil paint chunks that are both ornamental and motivic, he creates pieces that spark excitement in the viewer's eye.

Influenced by his time in Japan and studies of Japanese woodblock prints, Korman's work reflects the elegance of Japanese aesthetics, including the Rimpa School and Ukiyo-e.

- Golnaz Fathi ()

Fathi's artistic practice originates from ancient Persian calligraphy, a revered art form within the Islamic world. Her inspiration comes from the calligrapher's initial exercise called shiah mashgh, also known as "black practice", where letters are repeatedly written until the page is fully saturated with black ink.

Fathi employs this technique with utmost respect and joy, as she considers it the most natural representation of an artist’s individuality. After years of calligraphy training, Fathi creates contemporary pieces filled with liberating emotions, each stroke on canvas charged with profound sentiment.

🤲🌱 - Ma Kelu

As a prominent member of the avant-garde artist collective 'No Name Group' in China during the 1970s, Ma has consistently pursued a deep commitment to the process of painting. Exploring various approaches to the two-dimensional visual field, he insists on maintaining complete creative freedom in his work.

Over time, Ma's dedication to painting as a means of creating meaning has led him to question the concept of detachment, even to the extent of rejecting the object he creates. For him, the object holds no significance without life, and he sees no separation between the two. In fact, art and life run parallel to each other, intersecting at times to guide his journey.

⚖️📐‘I desire every stroke to be reliable and effective,’ says Qian Jiahua(), highlighting the raw intuition shaped by authentic life experiences, memories, and desires.

Qian’s paintings showcase a flat perspective, where colours, lines, and shapes work together to create a sense of architectural precision and rhythm. The artist embraces spontaneity in her work, welcoming unexpected developments. Her technique involves layering elements with a mix of randomness, interaction, and balance. Through this process, Qian observes, comprehends, and documents the natural growth of her artwork.

🎨🧩 - Chen Yufan

For over two decades, Chen Yufan has been on a journey to expand the boundaries of painting. Transitioning from traditional two-dimensional canvases to immersive three-dimensional installations, he has sought to create a seamless blend of form, content, and concept in his work.

Though his installations diverge from the conventional painting format, Yufan remains deeply rooted in the essence of painting, infusing each piece with a personal touch and warmth reminiscent of his brushstrokes on canvas.

Zhu Peihong’s ‘My Space’ series explores the notion that the consciousness of all living beings in the universe is interconnected, creating a complex network.

When he engages in his creative process, the conscious energies resonate with the colours on the canvas, guiding the movement from line to line. These lines form a pathway that multiplies and diverges along different trajectories, ultimately achieving an inner order immured with the essence of nature and balance.
