Take Exit D Jordan MTR, turn left at the exit, at the traffic lights turn left and walk down Austin Road, cross over Cox’s Road intersection, continue down Austin Road. At next traffic lights crossover and turn left, Wally Matt will be on your right.

Wally Matt – Brief History

An iconic bar that open in the late 50’s as the Waltzing Matilda Inn, located at Cornwall Avenue, now the site of K11 development.

The name was changed in the 90’s to Wally Matt Lounge. When the bar moved to Humphreys Avenue it split and for a period there were 2 bars the Wally Matt Bar and Lounge in Granville Circuit and later Kimberly Road, this bar has since closed.

The New Wally Matt Lounge the second of the two bars opened firstly at Humphreys Avenue and in 2012 relocated to Austin Road. Wally Matt a descendant from the Waltzing Matilda Inn, that opened in the late 50’s, survives as HK’s oldest gay bar.

Having to make way for redevelopment the bar moved to Humphrey’s Avenue still in Tsim Sha Tsui for many years. In 2012 another move where it is today 152 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.

A comfortable bar with hints of its past with the eclectic decoration. We are open seven days a week and have happy hour everyday 6:00pm - 9:30pm. On Sunday to Friday Night Happy Hour Package “buy 3 get 1 free” and on Saturday and eve of public holidays drinks start from HK$58.

The bar is very different to the bar of yesteryear with it being more a local bar, there is a steady stream of international visitors and local expats have made Wally Matt their bar of choice. Karaoke is a feature of the bar and available for anyone to sing regardless of ability, free Wi-Fi and a warm welcome to everyone who enters the bar.
