In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), there is a theory derived from the "Huangdi Neijing" 《黃帝內經》 called the "Ziwu Liuzhu Map." (子午流注圖)This concept, discovered by TCM sages, identifies a rule that divides a 24-hour day into 12 two-hour periods, each corresponding to one of the 12 meridians in the human body. (12個時辰對應人體12條經脈)Therefore, each period has a different meridian in operation. By living according to this rule, the organs can perform their functions effectively, eliminate toxins, and strengthen the body to prevent disease.
11pm-1am (Zi Period)– Gallbladder Meridian: This is when bile metabolism occurs, and bone marrow produces blood. It is advisable to sleep. (子時)- 膽經
1 - 3am (Chou Period)– Liver Meridian: During this time, the qi and blood in the body return to the liver for blood filtration. It is advisable to sleep. (丑時)- 肝經
3 - 5am (Yin Period)– Lung Meridian: The lungs distribute qi and blood throughout the body, and deep sleep aids in this process. It is advisable to sleep. (寅時)- 肺經
5 - 7am (Mao Period)– Large Intestine Meridian: Qi and blood flow to the large intestine to eliminate waste. It is advisable to go to the bathroom. (卯時) - 大腸經
7 - 9am (Chen Period)– Stomach Meridian: This is the best time for digestion and metabolism, providing the necessary energy for the day. It is advisable to have breakfast. (辰時)- 胃經
9 - 11am (Si Period)– Spleen Meridian: This is when qi and blood are at their peak, and the spleen is responsible for the harmony of digestion, absorption, and elimination. TCM states that "the spleen governs the muscles." It is advisable to do some stretching activities. (已時) - 脾經
11am - 1pm (Wu Period)– Heart Meridian: The heart governs blood vessels and mental clarity. It is advisable to take a short rest. (午時) - 心經
1 - 3pm (Wei Period)– Small Intestine Meridian: The small intestine is most active during this time, absorbing nutrients. It is advisable to have lunch. (未時) - 小腸經
3 - 5pm (Shen Period)– Bladder Meridian: Qi and blood flow to the bladder to eliminate bodily waste. It is advisable to drink more water. (申時) - 膀胱經
5 - 7pm (You Period)– Kidney Meridian: This is when the kidneys eliminate toxins, and the senses of smell and taste are most sensitive. It is advisable to have dinner. (酉時)- 腎經
7 - 9pm (Xu Period)– Pericardium Meridian: Qi and blood in the pericardium are abundant, protecting the heart and preserving energy. It is advisable to rest and recuperate. (戌時) - 心包經
9 - 11pm (Hai Period)– Triple Warmer Meridian: The Sanjiao Meridian governs the various energies in the body, transporting them to all organs. It is advisable to rest, practice meditation, or engage in quiet activities. (亥時)- 三焦經
This physiological clock governs the detoxification times of various body organs, making it very important. To achieve good health, one must pay attention to it. For example, if someone frequently stays up until two or three in the morning, the detoxification of the gallbladder and liver will be obstructed, which can lead to illness and disease. 28th October marks the anniversary of Mr. Bowen’s passing. We, Bowen practitioners remember this remarkable individual, who was known for his innate talent and relentless pursuit of knowledge. He established unique methods to alleviate pain and relieve bodily tension, bringing hope and transformation to countless lives. Let me briefly introduce Mr. Bowen's contributions and spirit.

Bowen technique originates from Australia where, in the mid 50s, it was developed and practised by Mr. Tom Bowen. Studying many methods of complementary medicine, he integrated in his own technique what he found and felt to be the most effective and efficient. He was extremely busy in his Geelong clinic, performing about 13,000 treatments a year. In 1974, while attending a national health conference in Adelaide, Australia, Oswald (Ossie)
Rentsch met Mr. Bowen for the first time. In 1974 Mr. Bowen allowed Oswald Renstch to take notes of his technique and also authorised him to teach and spread his technique far and wide after his death. Mr Bowen had 6 people helping him in his clinic but Ossie was the only one who documented it all and taught it globally together with Elaine. In 1986, four years after Tom’s death, owing to Ossie and his wife Elaine Rentch, the teaching of this technique far and wide began, first in Australia and later overseas. To
preserve the Original technique, Ossie and Elaine founded The Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia in 1987. It was named Bowtech ® – The Original Bowen Technique. Since then, it has spread globally and gained enormous popularity. Other Bowen schools were established by the pupils of the academy with incorporation of their own experiences.

We’d like to share another positive experience from our Bowen therapy practice in Hong Kong which happened just this morning.
奧斯瓦德·倫奇 Oswald Rentsch剛在六月廿一日慶祝他的九十二歲生日。因為他,寶雲療法才得以在各國推行及得到廣泛應用而幫助到大眾。讓我來為他如何遇上及發展寶雲療法作為簡單的介紹:
1974年,在澳洲的Adelaide 阿德萊德,奧斯瓦德·倫奇 Oswald Rentsch (Ossie)在參加一次國家健康會議時,第一次遇見湯瑪士·寶雲(Thomas Bowen)。儘管他對寶雲先生的工作一無所知,但奧斯自告奮勇地問他是否能向他學習。寶雲先生握住奧斯的手,過了一會兒,說:“好!來吧,我會教你。我將會叫我的秘書約你。”幾小時後,寶雲先生找到奧斯並說:“你下星期三上午九點到我的門診部。”

According to The School of Life, we should do interviews with our body at times:
“We might start with: What does the body need now?
The answer may surprise us both by its rapidity and its specificity: a hug, a stretch on a ladder, a chance to curl up, to let out an enormous scream, a desire to be pressed by a huge weight or to cry. Even perhaps, a desire to push away a parent or draw a friend closer. How surprising that this lay just beneath the surface and that we would normally have overlooked it entirely.
We can go on:
What does the body not dare to ask for?
What has it had enough of?
What does it need more of?
What is far far too heavy for it?
What is it very scared of?
Where does it long to be right now?
Then we can move the questions on to specific body parts:
What do my shoulders need?
What does my back want?
What does my stomach long for?
What would my legs ideally like?
When considered in this light, a lot of what we call illnesses are attempts by the body to speak about particular discomforts that we have been too busy, tense or dutiful to attend to in more standard ways. We get back ache, or sore shoulders when there are burdens we repeatedly ignore. Our jaws clench and we grind our teeth when there are cries we haven’t let out. We may find our muscles aching and retreating when there is an energy or rage we have not given ourselves licence to experience. The body can be the locus for those of our wishes, fears and griefs that we have disowned and exiled.
The more we can entertain our emotional lives, the less the body will need to articulate them for us in painful and bothersome symptomatic forms. The more we can directly feel, the less our bodies will need to enact. Through regular interviews, we can try to catch the body’s communications when they are still in the form of moans and hints rather than screams, panic or despair.”

我們越能夠接納自己的情感,身體就越不需要以痛苦和困擾的狀態形式來表達。我們越能夠直接感受、體驗,身體就越不需要將這些表現出來。通過定期的內在對話,我們可以嘗試在身體的溝通還處於呻吟和暗示的階段時抓住它們,而不是讓身體去到尖叫、恐慌或絕望。因而產生痛楚、疾病…
