📸 Want to elevate your picture-taking game?

🧠 First off, learn your gear. Whether it's a DSLR, a mirrorless camera, or just your smartphone, knowing the ins and outs of your equipment is key.

🕑 Timing is important. Hunt for the 'Golden Hours' - just after sunrise or just before sunset - when the light is soft and ethereal.

👀 Observation is crucial. Look for interesting shadows, reflections, or unusual perspectives.

Before I ever moved to Hong Kong I knew all about the Star Ferry. My grandfather or as I called him, my Papa who visited HK at least twice between the 80s & 90s spoke very fondly of his passages on everyone's favourite ferry. During the last years of his life when I moved to Hong Kong I would often send back post cards and small mementos of the Star Ferry to my Papa. He cherished them and it became a secret conversation between the two of us. Whenever I find myself missing him I go for a ride taking in all the sights and reflect back on our memories together.

Introducing 3 of my favourite hot spots for photography🇭🇰

1. Wan Chai: If you are a history and architect lover, you would fall in love with this location. It’s the place where tradition meets modernity. The low roofed buildings with Hong Kong’s tram would make a great composition for your pictures.

2. Sham Shui Po: The Button Street or Fabric Street, markets and streets, Sham Shui Po has a distinct characteristic. Other than still-life, you could focus on the local people working. It's an interesting way to learn about local daily life through observing and capturing what it is like to be working and living in Hong Kong.

3. Mong Kok: If you want to show your friends what it's like in Hong Kong, Mong Kok is the place. As soon as the dark hits Hong Kong, the neon lights in Chinese characters illuminate the night. To add even more, the red-taxi would be a perfect element that will encapsulate the retro-side of Hong Kong.
