I love this "trick" to shine a flashlight onto the fish for better photos and videos.
This was a video made about 2 weeks ago of a successful spawn. The fry were still learning to attach to the parents side and swimming back to the breeding cone. The breeding cone was removed on the following day so the fry can spend more time on the parents. I love this "trick" to shine a flashlight onto the fish for better photos and videos.

Great parenting of a successful spawn. We can clearly see the fry feeding of the parent's body mucus.

After many years, it is great to see everything working very well! I setup this drip and refill system for because it would have been very hard, risky, and expensive to drill all the existing big tanks with thick glass and many fish inside. The system can be setup to drip constantly for the continuous water change or to stop when refilled after a water change.

Perfect paste of fresh beefheart and shrimp. Does not break apart in the water if all goes right.
Not for sale. Defrosted and "whipped" beefheart and shrimp discus food ready for feeding. Every effort is made to achieve the perfect paste that does not break apart in the water. Every bit of fat and veins on the fresh beefheart is removed. The shrimps bought live at the local wet market are shelled and deveined. A small amount of fish oil and possible dried fish food is added. The ingredients are cut up very fine in a large high speed soya bean blender. The mix is split into convenient packs.
