Welcome to Schmatz Tokyo World Gate, where sleek design meets a laid-back, inviting atmosphere. Designed by JJ Acuna / Bespoke Studios, this restaurant invites guests to kick back, enjoy bold ale and sausage flavours that are authentically German, while taking in the view of lush greenery outside. The solid wood beams and striking color accents set the tone for a space that’s both rugged and refined. Come for the craft beers, stay for the vibe.

Big news- our studio won “Best Use of Colour” at the Tatler Homes Design Awards 2024 for Carlo’s on Monday night. Thank you so much for this incredible award. Big props and shout out to my client, Carlo Alvarez, and Brand Direction by Kix Suarez for Carlo’s - and the teams who embraced the vision and the bold use of colour that brought our shared dream to life.

Colour is at the heart of everything we do in our studio. As hospitality designers, we immerse ourselves in colour, materiality, texture, and pattern to craft a fantasy, create an experience, and frame a dish or tell a story. Colour is everything—it’s fun, cerebral, emotional, and a gift that shapes our reality.

Thank you to Tatler Homes, all the judges, EIC Stephanie Zubiri, and the creative spirit that drives me to colour and wield its power in an intuitive and heartfelt way. 🙏🏻

On the Gemini Residence by JJ Acuna / Bespoke Studio: “While they were open to being creative and flexible with the floor plan, the layout and colour schemes were subject to consultation and approval from a feng shui master. Both being heavily into Chinese geomancy, which dictates the addition and deletion of certain colours and materials in different places depending on the year, Acuña pandered to their desired clean look. ‘A clean home colour-wise gives them the most flexibility when it comes to annual feng shui solutions,’ he explains.” - Tatler Homes and Tatler Asia, May 2024.
