🌐 Scalability has always been a massive issue when it comes to DeFi applications, blockchain, or anything remotely related to the field.

There have been some proposed solutions to it, but not many have succeeded. Due to the increasing number of nodes and transactions in blockchains and the fact that every node needs to store and execute a task to validate every transaction, it ends up causing a bit of an overflow, which hinders performance.

🤗 On October 31, 2008, history was starting to take another course as the very first Bitcoin Whitepaper was published online by a man named Satoshi Nakamoto.

A couple of months later, on January 3rd, 2009, Bitcoin officially launched after what's known as the Genesis Block was mined. This date serves to represent the cryptocurrency's birthday as it is its mint date.

😯 Eclipse attacks target particular nodes in a network and isolate them, effectively obscuring their view and communication with the entire network.

🔹 Because of bandwidth limitations, attackers can decide to make their move seeing that the nodes are unable to simultaneously connect. Once the targeted node becomes compromised, it makes it prone to even more "bullying" from the attacker and from being manipulated fully.

Compromised nodes disrupt miner power and negatively impact transactions.

Sounds quite bad, doesn't it? Well, the good thing is that the BTCU network praises itself for its security and well-built system.

🛡 The fact that we've designed a new consensus algorithm - UPoS (Ultimatum Proof of Stake), that does not have the disadvantages of PoW and PoS, makes it so much safer that such attacks would never take effect.

Your data is always safe with us and no one can have access to it. Transactions won't get any quicker than this with minimal risks, that's what makes us so special.

⚡ Recently one of the most hyped projects in the modern crypto sphere reported that its energy consumption is one of the lowest compared to its contemporaries.

One of the most important aspects of BTCU is our algorithm for reaching consensus among other things.

In our network, you can find 3 key roles that are fundamental to the ecosystem:

🔹️Masternode - peer running a node and providing governance and advanced services.

🔹️ We've previously talked about how both validators and masternodes played a big role in BTCU's network stability.

It is worth mentioning, however, that even whilst being neither of them, you can still play a role in the network that's just as important and will be rewarded for it.

💰 Our leasing mechanism was implemented to create a better economic environment. It allows token holders to lease them to BTCU validators, thus receiving a percentage of their payment as a reward.

This was made in place to encourage network participants who have neither the validators nor masternode status in participating in the mechanism of reaching consensus all the while being rewarded for it.

👍 We want to democratize the network and allow everyone to benefit on way or another. Thanks to our leasing mechanism, you can earn rewards while participating in the network's growth.

ℹ BTCU's Masternodes are designed to provide governance and advanced services.

They host full copies of the blockchain and facilitate advanced functions. They are a set of incentivized nodes on a network within the BTCU network and are responsible for the handling of particular specialized tasks.

🌐 The Masternode network fulfills a range of functions independent of staking nodes. These distinct functions are limited to Masternodes, and cannot be completed by a standard staking node. These responsibilities are distributed across the Masternode network, and no Masternode has power nor authority over others in the network.

With the BTCU Masternode, you can lease coins from users and contribute to the network's speed and security.

🔁 When it comes to scalability concerning blockchains, it usually refers to its limitations when processing transactions.

One of Bitcoin's biggest challenges is how it still has trouble evolving scalability-wise due to its previously implemented protocol. It's still at 7 TPS.

Even Ethereum, albeit having introduced smart contracts, still remains limited when it boils down to it.

🌐 BTCU, however, is different. As it took the best of both of worlds, BTCU turned out to be extremely advanced, and one of its main focuses is offering better scalability for its community.

So far, BTCU is expected to achieve a blockchain constant throughput of 200 TPS, with the ability to scale up to 10,000 TPS.

🔹️ Interoperability by definition is the ability of different computer systems to exchange information and value.

Unfortunately, both Bitcoin and Ethereum still have plenty of interoperability issues which is nothing short of an impediment to their development - and they're not the only ones.

💪 A lot of blockchains do not work together and are rather independent, and thus far there is no proper way to allow different networks to communicate with each other. But that's where BTCU comes in.

The BTCU network is being built in a way that allows for complete interoperability. This is carried out by the implementation of atomic swaps at the level of smart contracts.

🔁 This creates a service for value exchange between networks and thus enables the transfer of tokenized assets from one network to another in a single click without any real restrictions.

BTCU wants to revolutionize the way the market works and the way we're used to be with blockchains in general.

⚡️ Bitcoin's massive energy consumption is no secret to the world. However, as time has yet proven to us again, the problem only keeps getting worse.

So far this year, Bitcoin seems to have already consumed more energy than it did in all of 2020. The numbers are roughly approximate but it has been deemed that by the end of the year Bitcoin would have overall consumed 91 terawatt-hours according to a Bloomberg post.

😔 This e-waste is not only energy-degrading but also resource-wasting and is an issue that most are hoping to fix before the consequences become irreversible.

What makes BTCU so different and special is that it was developed with the purpose of tackling the energy consumption problem that both Bitcoin and Ethereum face. A problem that is mainly associated with mining, scalability, and transaction anonymity.

🌐 In Blockchain, mining refers to the most traditional way of earning cryptocurrency by solving different cryptographic equations using high-end computers.

The problem however with this technique is that it turns out to be extremely energy consuming and thus harmful towards nature.

🌱 To counter such measures and to find a better, eco-friendlier way to mine and profit from cryptocurrency in general, BTCU has decided to implement leasing and staking in its platform in an algorithm that ensures everything works smoothly.

Typically, when you purchase crypto and stake it, you claim a certain number of coins through a crypto exchange platforms and your coins go into a Proof of Stake (Pos) wallet. The simplicity of this interaction ends up making the whole process less time and energy-consuming.

🔹️ Typically, a mining pool is a group constituted of cryptocurrency miners who "pool" their efforts and resources together to either find a block or to simply mine their desired cryptocurrency.

🌐 A pool may contain hundreds of thousands of miners, each using specialized protocols, and shares are the principal concept of each mining pool. This allows the fair rewarding of every miner taking part.
