A hack effective on the Tesla Model 3 and Y cars would allow a thief to unlock a vehicle, start it and speed away, according to Sultan Qasim Khan, principal security consultant at the Manchester, UK-based security firm NCC Group.

By redirecting communications between a car owner’s mobile phone, or key fob, and the car, outsiders can fool the entry system into thinking the owner is located physically near the vehicle.

The McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Parndorf stands for a first-class shopping experience. Around 160 brand partners, including international luxury, lifestyle and designer brands such as Aigner, BOSS, Diesel, Furla and Philipp Plein attract fashion enthusiasts to Burgenland every day. With 1,900 jobs, the Designer Outlet Parndorf is not only a shopping metropolis, but also the largest private employer in Burgenland.

Decorated shop windows, strolling fashionistas, a hip gastronomic scene and a world of experience for the littlest ones – the Designer Outlet Parndorf offers a shopping experience for the whole family. Behind the scenes, two topics are particularly important for management's work: security, specifically data protection standards and access authorisations.

In autumn 2020, EVVA installed the 595 AirKey cylinders required and an additional 349 mechanical cylinders in the Designer Outlet Parndorf within six weeks. A total of 1,787 ID media and keys have been issued to date. These are divided into more than 230 different areas or user groups. Two people manage the access system, which opens the right doors for employees and suppliers – and only these doors.

The project’s particular challenge for EVVA was its rapid integration into the existing security concept – during full operation six days a week. The different door designs made things even more difficult. Access managers strived for easy handling when encoding the granting of rights in order to offer the necessary flexibility in the event of personnel or supplier changes – and with as little effort as possible.

At present, there are no formal educational materials for Hong Kong interior design learning, and educators can only rely on ad hoc literature produced overseas (particularly in the West), or architectural-based materials to learn about interior design. Given that interior design has already established a unique and well-defined body of professional knowledge, and is firmly rooted in the cultural and social practices of a place, there is a need for interior design textbooks to reflect this context and allow interior design students to keep pace with rapid development of the industry. This series of interior design textbooks is aimed at satisfying the needs of Hong Kong interior design students at different academic levels from diploma, higher diploma to bachelor’s degree. Filled with case studies of award winning works from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond,as well as interviews and articles written by well-known professionals and academics from Hong Kong and around the world, these are the first interior design textbooks researched and written in Asia.
The series contains six books, related to the 6 body of knowledge areas well-defined in the Interior Design Professional Guideline, published by the Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) in 2014. Based on research of reputable international standards and confirmed by surveys of local interior design educators and practitioners, this guideline sets out in a systematic way the knowledge and skills that Hong Kong interior designers should possess.
