Masters of Tradition

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Masters of Tradition's Best Dressed Window competition. The winner was Pit Stop Autoshop.

Many of Bantry's businesses took part and we appreciate the time and effort which went into dressing their windows. It really added to the festival atmosphere!

What a brilliant effort for our final best dressed window of the season!

Congratulations to winners Pitstop Autoshop who won a €100 voucher to use on any of our festivals. The pairing of props, sheet music and our artist photos was excellent.

Honourable mention to Work Shop for another phenomenal entry and to Drinagh who have been the first to collect materials to display all summer! It all adds so much to the festival vibe in town. We will do another round-up post to thank all our window display participants in the coming weeks.

Don't forget that the Ellen Hutchins Festival opens tomorrow.

The Ellen Hutchins Festival starts tomorrow, 17th August, in Bantry and will run until the 25th of August. This festival celebrates Ireland's first female botanist, Ellen Hutchins who was from Bantry, her work and legacy in the field of botany, botanical art and crafts, and encouraging people of all ages to explore the natural and cultural heritage, beauty and biodiversity of Bantry Bay.

With a plethora of walks, talks, live demonstrations, seaweed & seashore lichens, botanical art & craft workshops, plant poetry & prose, childrens activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Events take place in Bantry, Ballylickey, Glengarriff, Kealkill, Whiddy Island, Ballydehob, Gearhies and Ahakista.

🚗As parking at the pier is limited and expensive we recommend parking at the square and walking to the pier. Bantry Pier is the one near to the Maritime Hotel ( not the one near Supervalu)

Masters of Tradition is delighted to present a solo exhibition of work by Allihies-based artist Tim Goulding from his latest series Music. This exhibition will run from Thursday 22 - Sunday 25 August in Marino Church, Bantry.

Tim says, "I constructed the paintings as I might arrange a musical work, paying attention to counterpoint, harmony and the spaces between notes that imply rhythm
Outside of this rather dry framework I am trying to emphasise a feeling of uplift, joy, and harmony. 'Singing with colour' is a good analogy."
