Atomic Habits by James Clear is one of my favourite books and the bible when it comes to building lasting habits that lead to sustainable change. I’ve come back to it time and again when I’ve been making new habits (and breaking some old ones!!)
When building successful habits, you need to make them

• Easy
• Satisfying
Small, daily habits you put in place now will build up over time until one day you look back and see how far you’ve come. It’s not your goal that leads to success, but the system you have in place that’s going to get you there!

Equinox Blessings to you all!! 🍂☀️
Today is astrological Autumn Equinox, where there is equal parts light and darkness. It is the halfway point between the summer and winter solstice. A time to pause before we journey into winter. A time for balance.
I was reminded yesterday that balance is the foundation to good health. The word 'disease' means lack of ease. And when we are out of balance it can take its toll on our bodies. You’ve probably noticed your immune system taking a hit after a period of stress or busyness.
What brings you into balance?
For some it can be connecting in with the breath, good food, exercise, yoga, or meditation. A really key one is sleep (which I'm realising I'm needing lots of lately).
For me, grounding myself in nature, whether it’s a walk in the woods or going for a swim brings me balance and back to myself.

Life is tough sometimes. There’s no denying that. We can’t always depend on external sources for our happiness. In fact, I’d go so far as to say we can’t, full stop.
True joy comes from within. It’s a state of being. But joy is a choice, it is something we have to choose to create inside ourselves.
Sometimes you have to work hard at creating joy in your life. It can be easier to scroll on social media or watch TV than go for a walk, visit loved ones, or whatever that thing is that brings you joy. Sometimes you have to, as Nike says, JUST DO IT. Make a conscious decision to make joy and fun a priority in your day. Give yourself that permission.
Even on our worst days, we can have joyful moments. And cultivating joy is proven to help with our resilience when times are tough. I’m not talking about toxic positivity where we block out tougher feelings and pretend that everything is ok (we need to sit with our “bad” feelings when they come up, though no feeling we experience is really bad). I’m talking about focusing on the things in your life that you are grateful for and doing more of what makes your heart sing.
It’s time to put yourself in the way of joy. What are things that bring you joy?
Today is the spring equinox, the time of year where we say goodbye to winter and come out into the light. The days are getting longer and brighter and new life is all around us.
The equal hours of light and darkness remind us to look at the nature of balance within ourselves. Where in your life are you feeling balanced and what is out of balance?
It’s also an opportunity to spring clean our lives and not just our homes – to look ahead to new beginnings and to let go of what we no longer need.
As you stand on the threshold of winter and spring, what new life do you want to grow for yourself? 🌱🌼☀️

Think about what makes you happy, what is important to you, what are the things you need for your well-being. Don’t compare yourself to other people. Be open and curious. And you may be surprised about what you discover.

Its time to love and celebrate yourself for who you are. Time to treat yourself with kindness and honour yourself. Do the things that make you happy, speak to yourself in a loving way, make time for yourself.
