“Calories in, Calories Out” is just pure NONSENSE!

Calories are the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water around a “closed” thermodynamic system called a bomb calorimeter by 1 degree C. It’s a measurement of kinetic activity or the movement of the molecules within that water, that movements being caused by photons of a certain wavelength interacting with the surrounding water after being released from the rapid combustion of a food item inside the said bomb calorimeter via a massive electrical current which causes rotations, vibrations and translations. That is all they are. Therefore, we say on an informal basis, that calories are units of heat energy. “Informal” because actually, energy cannot be measured. The purest form of energy cannot be directly measured.

The human body does not absorb energy and is NOT a bomb calorimeter. The body absorbs mass! The mass of the food we eat is what our body converts to body mass, NOT calories, because if we could absorb calories (energy) and photons, then we should get fat or gain weight from sitting under the sun too long.

So those who still think that what you’re doing is real calorie deficit? Think again. Because we can’t be in a calorie deficit unless we are in a hypothermic event, i.e., our body is losing more heat to the environment that it is actually generating.

So just stop the “calories in, calories out” (CICO) thing. It’s just pure NONSENSE!

Filipino-style spaghetti is an all-time and childhood fave and surely a lot of Filipinos can relate. Luckily, I am able to make my own low carb spaghetti noodles that look and feel and taste like the real one so am still able to enjoy this dish whenever I want. Didn’t have Pinoy style hotdogs, though, and I added some mushrooms (which is typically not used in Pinoy-style spaghetti) just because I have some in the fridge. Spaghetti Sauce:
Minced beed
Tomato sauce
Heavy cream
Garlic
Onion
Mushrooms
Soy sauce/fish sauce
Allulose
Salt
Black pepper
Italian seasonings
Grated parmesan-gouda cheese mix

Garlic-butter kefir cheese spread:
Butter
Kefir cheese (you may use cream cheese)
Garlic powder
Salt
Italian seasonings

Feeling extra today so am having low carb sushi bake + my milk and water kefirs for “breakfast”! 🥰

Psyllium husk (just to give my rice that sticky-rice feel)
Chopped prawns
Chopped cucumber
Choppes strawberries (just wanted something sour/tart/sweet that is low sugar instead of mango. Turned out good!)
Homemade furikake (crushed dried seaweeds, black pepper, salt and allulose)
Kefir cheese (you may use cream cheese)
