Minimum Qualifications Required: FETAC Level 6, or Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education.

Coachford Childcare Centre is situated on the outskirts of Cork City. Our busy crèche is currently recruiting a relief staff member to cover staff holidays, sick cover and busy days, specifically to cover a pre-school/ after-school room leader for approximately 4 weeks commencing Monday 27th of February. At Coachford Childcare Centre, we endeavor to promote a positive, progressive and friendly environment. As an Early Years Practitioner you will work as part of a team to deliver high quality care and education to all children in your care. Duties will include being responsible for caring for the needs of a group of children and preparing their day to day daily needs. Ideal applicant should be self-motivated enthusiastic and good team player. Our service provides care and education for children from 6 months to twelve years of age.

The successful applicant must have:

- Minimum FETAC Level 6
- Two written references
- Successful candidate will need to under-go Garda vetting
- Experience is an advantage but not essential

Attendance: An estimated 171,200 children attended early years services in Ireland during 2015/2016.

Free Preschool Year: The number of children availing of the free pre-school year grew by 16% between 2014/2015 and 2015/2016.

Fees: The average cost of a full-time place was €167.03 per week, €0.16c less than in 2014/2015. The average cost of a part-time place was €99.18 per week, €3.82 higher than in the
previous year.

Staff: It is estimated that 25,700 staff work in the childcare sector in Ireland, of which half are employed on a part-time basis

FOOD FOR THOUGHT! Many childcare professionals feel powerless to do anything about the crisis that the governments chronic under-funding and state sponsored exploitation of practitioners has caused. BUT we shouldn't underestimate our collective strength. If all childcare services were to close, we would shut down the country. We are the profession all professionals and industries rely on - Teachers, Gardai, civil servants, public transport, construction ....... and even TD's/ Government Ministers themselves.
