UCC Musical Theatre Society

A two part masterclass focusing on making sure you shine in your audition, whether you're singing a cut of a song or doing a cold read. This master class will help you hone your storytelling, listening skills, and trusting your instincts. 🎶 Join us next week as Sarah Rose, a professional actress hailing from the sunshine state of Florida, takes us through her masterclass in auditioning skills. This event will be taking place at 7pm on the 11th of November, here on campus in the Electrical Engineering Building in Room 1. Tickets are €5 and available through our link in bio 🎟️ If you would like to participate in the singing section please 16 bars of a song of your choosing (a verse and chorus) 🎧🎵

Our next open mic night is on the 13th of November in collaboration with 🎤‼️ The event will be taking place in the Old Oak in town from 8pm. This is a great social event and great fun to either sing at or just come along and chill 🎶🤞 see you there ! 🫶

Do you want to be involved with UCC MTS's next big musical? 📣 Our semester 2 production is a full length musical which requires a director, assistant director, choreographer, assistant choreographer, 2 musical directors (one for band and vocals respectively), a production manger, stage manager and a set and costume designer. Please email musicalproduction@uccsocieties to express interest. 🎬 Experience in positions is recommended but not strictly necessary. Show announcement pending soon. Performers auditions will be announced once PT is finalized. Behind the scenes positions such as stage hands and band will be announced in time also.🎭

Auditions for our Inters Production 'A Chorus Line' will be taking place on the 22nd and 24th of October ! 💃🏻
First of all a recap on Inters: Intervarsities (or Inters) is a competition where universities across Ireland compete against each other in 20 minute versions of musicals. This will be taking place in Athlone from the 14-16th of March. This is a fantastic competition, and a great weekend away full of workshops and nights out. You are also able to compete in Inters and still perform in our second semester production. 🎶
The dance call will be held on Tuesday 22nd & singing auditions will be held on the Thursday 24th. A pdf of monologues will be available in our bio, from here you can choose from the list which monologue you would like to prepare for the day. We ask that performers perform a verse and chorus from a song from ‘'A Chorus Line’ or a similar style musical. A link to a sign up sheet is available through our link in bio, here you can choose what time slot suits you best for your auditions 🎭🪩🎼 Best of luck !

Next Thursday the 10th we will be hosting our Extraordinary General Meeting in the Makers Space in the Hub. Here we will be electing all remaining positions on the committee - 4 ordinary committee members, 2 first year reps, a postgrad rep and a productions officer; along with voting to confirm new changes to our constitution. Yes, we are officially putting out our production call for our Inters Production Team for 2024! The Intervarsities competition (i.e. Inters) is a competition between musical theatre societies from universities across the country. Each society performs a 20 minute version of a musical in competition against one another. Yes, the auditions for our semester one Cabaret are now open ! These will be online auditions that can be sent to our productctions email ([email protected]). We ask that you send in a video of you singing a Sondheim song that you would like to perform for our cabaret, which will be taking place in the Granary Theatre on the 18th of October. It would be helpful for you to perform the song as you would on stage so we can get a good idea of how the performance would play out. Please send in your videos before 8pm, Thursday the 26th.
