The final day of the Dublin Plein Air Festival last day Sunday at ArdgillanCastle !
It's already the middle of the week, and I wanted to share my experience with you.
Last year's weather was quite a contrast to this year's. We had to cut short due to a thunderstorm then. However, this year, the sunshine blessed us with a longer day to chat and bid farewell until next year. Though I did end up with a sunburn on my shoulders – typical me! 🙃 😆
The festival was not just about painting but also about making new friends and catching up with old ones. I'm grateful to the organizers for ensuring such a memorable week and for managing the weather so well. Ray, for funny photos taken 😆
🌞 Day Six at the Dublin Plein Air Festival: Farmleigh House Splendor 🌳🎨
Saturday's artistic escapade took us to the magnificent Farmleigh House in Phoenix Park, and what a day it was! Blessed with glorious sunshine, the day was not only beautiful but also smooth and incredibly productive.
The day started easy and restful, with plenty of delightful chats with passersby who were curious about our artistic endeavors. Their interest and encouragement added a wonderful social touch to the day.
In my enthusiasm, I did manage to get slightly sunburned on one shoulder—just a small reminder of the intensity of my painting passion under the sun. Nothing major, though, and totally worth it!
As we near the end of this fantastic week, I find myself feeling a mix of happiness and sadness. It's been an incredible journey filled with creativity, learning, and connection. The thought of it ending makes me a bit wistful, but there's still one more day to go.
Sunday is our last day, and I'm determined to make it as memorable as the rest. Stay tuned for the final chapter of this amazing plein air adventure!
I keep painting, keep smiling, and don’t forget the sunscreen! 😉🎨✨🌞
🌳 Day Five at the Dublin Plein Air Festival: Newbridge House Delight 🌳
Fridays' adventure brought us to the stunning Newbridge House, a place I had yet to explore. Let me tell you, it's an amazing location that I highly recommend visiting. The scenic beauty and serene atmosphere provided a perfect backdrop for a day of plein air painting.
The weather, however, wasn't exactly on our side. The weatherman seemed to have it out for us, but luckily, the rain only made its appearance during our exhibition and the voting for today's winner. Talk about perfect timing! 🌧️
The highlight of my day was attending my last workshop of the week with the incredible artist Steve Browning. What an experience! Steve's insights and techniques were truly inspiring, making this workshop an unforgettable one.
And here's the icing on the cake—my trusty easel remained intact, with no screws lost! 🎉
I keep creating, keep exploring, and may my easels stay sturdy! 😉
🎨✨🌳
🌊 Day Four at the Dublin Plein Air Festival: Balbriggan Harbour Wonders
Today’s adventure took us from the sunny streets of Dublin city to the charming Balbriggan Harbour, where we were greeted by a cozy, cloudy, and warm day. My day started a bit later than usual—apparently, I was too comfortable in dreamland! But guess what? Despite the late start, it turned out to be an incredibly productive day.
I managed to create not one, but two amazing paintings! And, drumroll please... not a single screw was lost from my ever-faithful (yet sometimes troublesome) easel. Hard to believe, but it's true! Maybe that screw-tightening fairy heard my plea after all. 🧚♂️
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the arrival of my dream team—my wonderful admirers who came to support me. A million thanks to each of you; your encouragement means the world to me. Having you all there truly made it a happy day.
Now, I'm eagerly anticipating tomorrow's journey to Newbridge, where I've got a workshop booked. More learning, more painting, and undoubtedly more fun are on the horizon. Stay tuned for more updates and artistic escapades!
I will keep painting, keep dreaming, and keep those screws tightened! 😉
🎨✨🛠️
🌿 Day Three at the Dublin Plein Air Festival : Botanical Garden Bliss 🌿
Today was a magical day at the Botanical Garden, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Blessed with beautiful weather and the incredible talent of David West, the day was nothing short of special. David's workshop was a highlight, filled with inspiration and awe. His demo at the glasshouse? Simply extraordinary—every bit as breathtaking as the rest of his stunning work. Wow indeed!
Now, let’s talk about my loyal but quirky moving easel. It seems to have developed a rebellious streak, constantly losing screws. 🛠️ Each time I set it up, I’m reminded of a scavenger hunt as I search for those tiny, sneaky screws. Fingers crossed I can finish this week without losing any more of them!
I also had the joy of catching up with some fantastic people today. I bumped into Karina (one of the winners), Ray, Angela, and the always fun Donna. The conversations were lively, the laughter was infectious, and the company was top-notch. Good crack indeed!
So, what more could I wish for? Not much, honestly. Well, maybe a screw-tightening fairy! 🧚
As we wrap up this delightful day, I'm already looking forward to our next adventure at Balbriggan Harbour tomorrow. More painting, more friends, and hopefully fewer lost screws! Stay tuned for more tales from the Dublin Plein Air Festival.
I will keep creating and keep smiling!
