Sparking Modernity - The Marconi Station at Derrigimlagh, Co Galway
darc space invites you to help us celebrate wonder, innovation and daring at the opening of the
Exhibition and the launch of the accompanying publication.
6.30pm, Wednesday 24th May
The story of Derrygimlagh is one of the most compelling, yet little known, international stories of the 20th century. A blanket bog near Clifden, at the very edge of the European continent, was the setting of two outstanding technological achievements of early modernity. The exhibition will not only showcase the magic of the Derrigimlagh and its unique role in communications technology and aviation, it will also highlight the work of the design team in the creative interpretation of a unique historic site. A second exhibition strand further develops the role of this special place as inspiration; Belgian architect and academic, Dr Riet Eeckhout, will be exhibiting drawings that articulate intense site readings.
The exhibition and this publication have been supported by Daikin Ireland
