Treat your home like an office
You can’t be productive when you’re in pain
The critical issue is to separate the keyboard from the monitor so you can get your monitor at the right line of sight: eye level or slightly below. Then adjust your keyboard or input device so that your elbow angle is around 90 degrees, to provide proper forearm support and keep your wrists in a neutral posture.
Take a Time-out
Without our accustomed changes of scenery and company it’s easy to feel irritated. Our usual ways of dispelling negative feelings – going to the gym, for example – are also unavailable. This can lead to a tense atmosphere.
A good way to reinstate some calm is to establish a time-out area. If you’re lucky with space, set aside a room; if not, screen off an area by moving furniture strategically. Add a couple of pillows, sheets of paper and a pen.
Then when you or anyone else feels their irritation rising, go to the time-out space. Write down what’s bothering you, then tear it up dramatically – this is very releasing. If you’re still feeling fed up, punch the pillow a few times. Finish with ten slow breaths: in through the nose and out for twice as long through the mouth. Leave with a smile and a sense of relief.
Staying comfortable
No matter how diligent you are about taking your government-mandated hour of daily exercise – or how fit you consider yourself to be – you can still experience muscle aches and pains if you stay in one position for too long.
The key to remaining as comfortable as possible is regular movement. If you’re sitting down, change your position at least three times every hour. Better yet, if you’re able, try this three-step energiser; it has the added benefit of lifting your mood.
Stand up. Breathe in deeply while slowly lifting your arms high above your head. Pause and stretch, then breathe out slowly while lowering your arms. Do this five times. Now slowly sit down and stand up five times.
Now, who’s ready for their daily constitutional?

Good morning and I hope you had a good weekend. I also hope the sun is shining today for you (it's trying to in Dublin, for me!).
Did you watch any of the One World concert? Set up to celebrate and support frontline workers, it had some stand-out moments, not least a magnificent performance from the Rolling Stones (live from their living rooms), which featured Charlie Watts drumming on his sofa (and looking very happy about it) and a beautiful version of The Prayer with Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, John Legend, Lady Gaga, and Lang Lang on the piano. They are worth catching up with (Elton John's performance is also worth watching, but more for opening your mouth in astonishment!).
The concert was one of the main stories of the weekend. Also in the news, and on a much more serious note, was the issue of personal protective equipment or PPE. Our health workers are in desperate need of more of this.
What an inspiring story. These are challenging times and it is encouraging to read how we are coming together to support each other.
