Here’s to 10 years of empowering people to take control of their gut health. Thank you for being a part of our journey!
Breath testing is used by leading hospitals around the world to help people with IBS and SIBO, but those tests only provide a snapshot of what is happening in your body on that specific day. The FoodMarble AIRE 2 allows you to test how your body reacts daily. Paired with our FODMAP kit, you can test your tolerance to the most common hard-to-digest FODMAPs and start finding real answers.
Compared to traditional testing methods, the FoodMarble AIRE 2 offers several key advantages:
âś… Portability: The FoodMarble AIRE 2 is a small, handheld device that can be easily carried with you wherever you go. Test your fermentation levels anytime, anywhere, with full flexibility.
âś… Real-time results: The FoodMarble AIRE 2 connects to our app, allowing you to track and monitor your breath test results in real-time.
âś… Personalized insights: FoodMarble provides personalized insights and recommendations based on your breath test results. We help you identify specific foods that may trigger your symptoms.
âś… Cost-effective: Traditional testing for IBS and SIBO can be costly, requiring multiple doctor visits, lab tests, and specialized procedures. The FoodMarble AIRE 2 offers a more affordable alternative with a portable, at-home testing that reduces the need for frequent medical appointments and lab fees.
Our CEO, Aonghus Shortt, was recently featured on the "Wellness For Life" podcast with Niki Self-Development Coach.

Struggling with constipation, diarrhea, or irregular bowel movements? New research shows these might affect more than just your gut.
A recent study found that bowel movement frequency (BMF) is closely linked to your kidney, liver, and even brain health.
- Best outcome: passing stools once or twice per day for optimal health
- Constipation: 1-2 bowel movements per week could lead to harmful toxin buildup, straining your kidneys
- Diarrhea: 3+ watery stools a day can cause inflammation and liver damage
Irregular BMFs may increase the risk of chronic conditions, even in generally healthy people. Maintaining a balanced diet, staying active, and tracking your gut health can help reduce risks.
With the FoodMarble and our easy-to-use app, tracking your daily bowel movements becomes easy! You’ll be able to spot patterns and take control of your gut health like never before.

Food is vital to our overall health, but for people who suffer from digestive issues such as SIBO and IBS, certain foods can trigger digestive disruptions.
At FoodMarble, we want to help you take the powerful step towards gaining control of your digestive health. You deserve to understand your food tolerances and intolerances—both foods that affect you and in what quantities.
Start measuring how you digest the foods you eat from the comfort of your home today!
Did you know? Your p**p can can tell a story - about your gut! The shape, texture, size, smell, colour and frequency of your p**p can often be a good indication of your overall digestion and health.
FoodMarble makes it easy to log and track your daily bowel movements so you can spot on patterns and take control of your gut health.
Swipe through our handy stool chart to see how your p**p measures up and find out if your digestion is on track.
SIBO is associated with various symptoms, including weight gain. Studies have shown that the risk of SIBO is about two times higher in people with obesity.
SIBO disrupts digestion, causing malabsorption, insulin resistance, and inflammation, all of which can lead to weight gain. The overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine interferes with nutrient absorption and triggers metabolic dysfunction, promoting fat storage and increased appetite.
If you’re struggling with SIBO management, it’s your turn to take control of your gut health with FoodMarble AIRE 2! Track hydrogen and methane levels at home to understand how SIBO affects your gut. By tracking these gases, you can identify which foods trigger your symptoms and better manage your condition—empowering you to reduce bloating, control weight gain, and support overall gut health.
A U.S. study revealed that 3 out of 5 Americans frequently experienced gastrointestinal symptoms, such as reflux, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. Food is frequently a contributing factor. FoodMarble’s mission is to help individuals identify the causes of their discomfort and monitor their digestive health. With our clinically validated breath tester, you can track your meals, stress, sleep, and symptoms. Discover which foods work best for you and reduce your symptoms within weeks.
Recognizing the difference between an allergic reaction and food intolerance can be essential for managing your health and dining with confidence.
Allergies involve the immune system’s overreaction to harmless substances like peanuts. This can cause immediate and potentially severe reactions, including rashes, itching and difficulty breathing.
Intolerances, however, relate to difficulties in digesting certain foods. One family of carbohydrates that can lead to symptoms are called FODMAPs. For example, many people are intolerant to lactose, a common but hard-to-digest FODMAP component found in dairy. This can lead to symptoms like bloating, abdominal pain and headaches. Unlike allergies, intolerances often allow for small servings without issues and symptoms typically develop more slowly, making them harder to identify.
If you are suffering from food intolerance or suspect you might be, our FoodMarble device and FODMAP kit can help you understand how certain foods and FODMAPs affect your digestion and determine your tolerance thresholds. Find out how much of a particular food is fine for you with FoodMarble, start today!
A key part of our Discovery stage consists of testing FODMAPs – lactose, fructose, sorbitol and inulin. Test one FODMAP on separate days (these are called Discovery Days!). A good approach is to test one per week or with at least a minimum of a three-day gap between tests.
After each test, your Digestive Profile and Food Library will become more personalized. You can then also search for Recipes to find tasty meals and snacks that work best for you, based on your results.
Keep logging your meals, symptoms, stress, sleep, and breath scores to make the most of your FoodMarble experience.
AIRE 2 is the world's first personal breath testing device. It's small and very powerful. Simply breathe into it, and it will analyze the fermentation levels in your gut. Paired with its app, it helps you identify which foods are best for your digestive system and allows you to track your diet, symptoms, stress, and sleep, providing a comprehensive view of your digestive health, all from the comfort of your home.
Achieve "low"🟢 breath scores by identifying your tolerance levels for trigger foods, and aim for a symptom-free life without fear of any foods.
Did you know that your gut health is closely linked to your mental health? The gut-brain axis is an influential communication network that can impact your overall health and well-being. An imbalance in the gut microbiome can lead to a variety of mental health issues. In fact, people with IBS, SIBO and other gastrointestinal disorders are more likely to suffer from stress, anxiety and depression. Cultivate a healthy gut and mind by taking each day one breath at a time đź’™
With our FODMAP Intolerance Kit, you can easily discover your tolerance to four hard-to-digest food components — lactose, fructose, sorbitol, and inulin — using your FoodMarble device.
Gain access to exclusive features on the FoodMarble app and be part of a support program. It's time to find the foods your gut will love!
🥑Avocados (portion size: 70g) are high in Sorbitol, a FODMAP present in some fruits and sweeteners. Those who are intolerant to Sorbitol might have problems with a regular serving of Avocados, but just like any other food, it's best not to eliminate it without proper testing.
With FoodMarble, you can test avocados and other foods you love starting from smaller portion sizes to find a safe portion size to enjoy.
"Like a lot of people with functional gut issues, I’ve gone through the usual scopes and scans always hoping that my doctors would find an answer. It’s strange to always be hoping that they find something wrong with you but if you’ve been in my position, you probably understand the disappointment when you’re told “it’s just IBS”.
A few years ago, I started experiencing new symptoms that felt different from my IBS, which I'd had for over 7 years. I saw multiple gastroenterologists and had to convince them these symptoms were different and to run tests. All tests came back negative, leaving me hopeless as my symptoms worsened.
About 2 years ago, every meal caused me pain and would make me really uncomfortable. Around this time, I got a FoodMarble device, and this gave me the first glimmer of hope. I used the device on a daily basis and saw that I had really high levels of hydrogen in my gut. To finally see that there could be a reason behind why I was feeling awful was really validating. Feeling more confident that something could be done to help, I did some research and found a doctor who specialised in SIBO.
She first had me use my FoodMarble device to perform a SIBO breath test which came back positive. I was prescribed a treatment which really helped to reduce my symptoms. We could see that my hydrogen levels had basically halved at the end of the treatment.
SIBO and IBS are complex diseases and I wasn’t “cured” but my symptoms were much more manageable. One of the coolest things for me was that I remembered what feeling “nicely full” was like – I had gotten used to years just feeling uncomfortably full no matter what I ate.
Next, my doctor had me complete a follow-up SIBO breath test which thankfully came back negative. I’ve also done a lactose intolerance test with FoodMarble which was surprisingly negative – I always thought this triggered my IBS. But even more surprising was when I did a fructose intolerance test and my breath scores shot up!
There is so much you can learn. Now I know what triggers my symptoms so I can eat a wide range of other foods without the fear of pain or bloating."
đź’ˇ The right answer is... methane!
When methane-producing microbes, known as methanogens, are present in the gut, they process hydrogen to produce methane gas.
Methane slows down how quickly food moves through the small intestine and colon, and it also increases the strength of muscle contractions.
This tends to slow down the overall movement of the digestive tract, leading to constipation.
Embark on your transformative gut health journey with the powerful combination of AIRE 2, the FoodMarble App, and our Food Intolerance Kit. These essential resources provide invaluable insights into your digestive health, enabling you to find the best foods for your gut.
Last year, we proudly earned the prestigious “Innovative Product” award for our AIRE 2's exceptional design and impact. While we can’t win it again (a pity!), rest assured, the AIRE 2 remains your trusted solution for digestive issues. Plus, its elegant design will add a touch of sophistication to your daily routine.
By tracking hydrogen and methane levels in your breath, AIRE 2 helps you identify foods that may cause digestive symptoms, allowing you to make more informed dietary choices for better digestive health.
The FODMAP substrates included in our food intolerance kits are: lactose, fructose, sorbitol & inulin. These are specific food ingredients that are commonly hard to digest. The food intolerance tests are optional, but highly recommended if you want to get answers quickly.
AIRE 2 offers reliability you can trust.
By providing accurate, real-time data on your body's response to different foods, AIRE 2 helps you to make informed decisions about your diet and digestive health.
The FoodMarble app is one of the very few apps that enable users to calculate the FODMAP content of their meals and log this information day to day.
Get in touch with us if you want to see a particular food in our Food Library 🥰📊 We are constantly adding to the FoodMarble food library with each new app update. If you notice any foods missing from the food library, make sure to let us know, and we'll prioritize adding your suggestions - email us at [email protected].

Our Story
We’re a digital health start-up based in Dublin, Ireland. We focus on the best digestive health research and find ways of making solutions accessible to everyone. We started out with just a concept in 2016 and now we’ve brought the world’s first personal digestive tracker to market.
FoodMarble was originally dreamed up by our CEO Aonghus, an engineer who wanted to help his girlfriend Grace find what foods caused her digestive issues. He soon realised the solution could help millions of others around the world as well.
We’re proud of what our small team has achieved so far but we are constantly improving. This is really just the beginning.
