Last nights full moon rising over Galway Harbour was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. A potent reminder of how grateful we are for our safe harbour and the intimacy shared with nature on the doorsteps of our waterside townhouses. All moments away from the vibrant craic & ceol of our bustling Galway city. It is moments like these that remind us why a stay at The Heron's Rest is called 'keeping it country in the city'. A shift in the seasons is on the air this evening. Our local Claddagh fisherman are bringing in the shrimp pots as they prepare for the approaching lobster season, and the sun is shining on The Herons Rest as we get everything gleaming ahead of reopening next weekend. We are looking forward to welcoming in season 2023.

A few pics from a recent trip exploring the west coast over St Bridgets Bank Holiday. There is so much to discover along our Wild Atlantic Way. The setting lent itself to a spectacular snow full moon rise & a simultaneous stunning sunset. It is such a beautiful place to spend time outdoors in the fresh air & nourish the soul.

The sun doesn't always shine in Connemara. Today was a day of rainbows & hailstones in between the sunny spells. It's still always a good idea to get out, up amongst the hills. Breathe in the super fresh air & soak up the play of the light on the landscape.. Great start to the week.

We had a crisp, bright day in Galway to walk off the Christmas Dinner & count our blessings (including rainbows). This route runs all the way from Oughterard to Maam Cross as part of the Western way. It's always magical no matter the season & was particularly vivid today.
