Just a bit of exciting news! As you may be aware our family have been serving the community here in Dromore since 1908 selling and servicing bicycles. Over the last number of months the bicycle business has relocated to our back building in order that we can expand our business to include a small coffee house. As a family we have been planning this for quite some time and have decided to take the plunge. Still Magill's will be offering a range of delicious hot and cold beverages along with a range of tasty treats including Taboo Donuts and ice cream. As some of you may already know, I have been working behind the scenes to completely re-visualise and rebrand the clinic. During the past year or so I have been undertaking some qualifications to not only further my knowledge and skill set of soft tissue therapy but psychotherapy as well. These qualifications include level 5 sports massage which is the highest level achievable, hypnotherapy to treat a multitude of needs and counselling within the next year. Therefore, I have changed the clinics name to Vitality Body & Mind, to reflect the clinics new vision and goals. As some of you may know physical and mental health are both extremely important to me and I am extremely excited to be able to bring these new skills into the clinic soon. At present we continue to offer our normal professional services now with the inclusion of ayurvedic Indian head massage which another team member will undertake. As a result of the recent NI circuit breaker we have had to close the clinic once again, even though we have invested heavily in making it safe and purchasing all necessary PPE and sanitising facilities. It is particularly devastating as we were a very young business before the first lockdown was announced and another is extremely damaging. We have taken the last few days to wrap our heads around the news and to plan for the future ahead and hope to open as soon as this circuit breaker is finished on Friday 20th November. We hope that all our clients will continue to book appointments in the knowledge that we will be taking every precaution to ensure that treatments are not only of the best quality but are also safe during this pandemic.

There have been some concerns over the opening of the clinic. While we appreciate and understand these concerns we would like to clarify things as this is a delicate situation that we have never encountered before. We deleted our previous posts and took the time to double check and confirm things with insurance and government bodies etc. and are happy to repost the following :-
Current government legislation requires remote treatment where possible avoiding non-essential contact. However for those whose condition has deteriorated significantly and who find themselves in a great deal of pain we can treat following strict PPE and cleaning protocols avoiding the need for these clients to have to attend GP surgery's or A&E. All clients will be required to wear a mask and gloves (provided) and deep cleaning will occur before and after treatments. Only essential treatments to alleviate substantial pain will be undertaken at this time.

❗OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19❗

We have been keeping a close eye and will continue to monitor the ongoing situation to ensure the best possible hygiene and sterile environment to keep our clients safe and healthy.

We will continue to sterilise all equipment before and after each client and maintain a rigorous cleaning of the entire clinic on a regular basis.

We would remind clients to follow all government guidelines and to not attend if you are feeling unwell.

Your feet and ankles are very important!

They are the first point of contact between the ground and the rest of your body. It is essential that they are in the right condition to handle that stress properly. Combined with your ankles, they absorb and transfer the forces associated with impacting the ground, and are vital for setting up the proper kinetic chain of command involving muscles and joints moving up the body. This includes knee, hip, core, and shoulder function.

If you don’t routinely move the ankle through its full range of motion, the tissues that surround the joint will become tight and restricted.

Some common issues associated with tight feet and ankles!

Knee pain resulting from increased knee valgosity (the knees moving inward)

Weaknesses in the calves, hamstrings and glutes

Achilles tendonitis

Runners knee

Ankle impingement (pinching)

Stress fractures of the heel or midfoot

Chronic calf tightness

Ankle sprains

Plantar fasciitis

Shin splints
