Love Grace's Place
Love, Grace's Place wants to provide accommodation to parents of babies who are in the Neonatal unit but aren't from Limerick. FAMILIES HELPING FAMILIES
Apologies to anyone who has been missing out on us since Christmas. We have had a run of it with covid and a few things with miss grace herself!!! All good now but just need some time to get back into it and push to bring Love, Grace's place forward. πππ

Empty arms
He sat upon the couch, his arms were open wide.
He was waiting for a baby to be placed inside.
Instead his arms were empty...a place where a baby should be. A baby that gained it's wings and now is flying free.
He bowed his head and said a prayer with a teardrop in his eye. He took a deep breath and tried not to cry.
Merry Christmas in Heaven to all the babies that won't see Santa this year. Know that you are dearly missed and we wish that you were here.

A huge thank you to Dave Roche, who donated a massive β¬500 to Love, Grace's Place. ππ Donations to the Neonatal unit like this allow the unit to purchase equipment they need, to have days in the unit where family get to see babies maybe for the first time after weeks, to provide help where help is needed πππ
If we can relieve some of the burden parents are facing in probably some of the hardest times of their lives, then our purpose will remain and we will continue to raise awareness and funds for the wonderful unit πππ
Again thank you so much Dave and your gorgeous daughter Aoibheann ππ
Have you got your family PJs yet? β¨

Got leaking milk?
πββοΈ Raise your hand if youβve ever had to change the sheets because your milk leaked all over them.
π Dance if you just threw down a towel and went back to sleep.
π€·ββοΈ Shrug if you didnβt do anything at all and just rolled over and went to sleep.
Leaking happens when the tissue is very full and the sphincters (valves) of the milk duct relax, allowing milk to flow out of the ni**le. Leaking or even spraying can also happen when oxytocin is released in the brain, the hormone responsible for signaling the body to relax and release milk. Most leaking stops between 6-12 weeks, some may have it continue until about 4-6 months, and a few will experience leaking their entire lactation journey (our founder is one of those- thatβs where the name comes from!) Not everyone leaks and itβs ok if you donβt. For those of us that do, waking up in a puddle is just one of the more unglamorous aspects of nursing! Itβs also why weβre grateful for our waterproof mattress covers.
TLB supporter, Naturepedic has organic Waterproof Mattress Protector https://bit.ly/3IUHBQ1 and thereβs 15% off with the code TLB15.
Tis' the season to save! We've got gifts they'll love, for everyone on your list, at new lower prices in store now! π

Babyβs come in all shapes and sizes. One nappy might fit great one baby but might not another.
Babyβs can be heavy wetters or light wetters.
It can all be so confusing when trying to get cloth right. When you find what works it will all fall into place.
If you have a nappy you love the fit of but the absorbency just does not suit you can simply change up the inserts to the ones that do.
It can be all trial and error so donβt get disheartened. You just may need a simple tweak and it will all come together.
Remember to reach out and ask for help advise if you need a helping hand x

Love, Graceβs Place
The idea of Love, Graceβs Place came from myself Pauline Gabbett, my daughter Grace was born at 29+1 weeks and weighed 780g. I never imagined anything like this would/could happen to us. Grace spent 14 weeks in the neonatal unit in Limerick, 3 of these weeks she was transported to the Coombe, Dublin. While in Dublin we encountered a financially hard time. We were lucky that after a week I was offered a room in a house in Dublin that provides parents with somewhere to stay for the length of time they need. the concept of accommodation for parents is not a new one but the idea to have it in Limerick is. For Graceβs 1st birthday I wanted to do something to give back to the unit to help other parents that find themselves in the same position I was in. We will provide a home away from home, a comfortable place to rest knowing you are close by to your baby. One of the most important things a premature baby needs is expressed breast milk from its mother and from personal experience stress can have a severe impact on the amounts a mother can produce, by having the house close by that the parents can use it will alleviate some pressure .i.e. travelling long distances.
Parents will learn babies cues long before any healthcare professional. having parents close by to baby shows benefits of the babyβs development. being in close proximity means that parents can deliver E.B.M much quicker and be closer by in case of any changes.
Doctors and nurses alike from the unit are delighted we are trying to lift this off the ground and know themselves first hand the importance of this home away from home.
I as yet haven't found the appropriate words to share to explain the importance of accommodation like this really is to our city.
