Well done to all the lad's today they all played excellent ... Winners of the U13 group A Shield Final against a very good Arrow Harps 🔴⚫🔴⚫

Our U13 team took on Ballinagare FC in an good friendly game under the lights in a very impressive macsharry park, it was a cold but dry night, all the lad's done well with the great help from Keith, Conor and keefe.

U13’s seen two games over the Saturday and Monday just gone, with only 3 league games played since September, these games were very important to keep in the race for the top spot. With the lack of game time for this group, coaches were worried the boys might be rusty.
Saturday afternoon seen a home game in Cleveragh against out of form Strand Celtic, our lads were playing straight into the sun for the first half, a shaky half could of seen it go anyway, we were on top but we couldn’t just score, ball went wide, over the bar and great saves from the keeper kept it all level for the first while, we could see the boys were rusty starting off from the lack of game time over the last few months, never the less they kept plugging away and finally the ball broke for Paraic Mc Sharry which landed in the back of the net, well deserved goal as we had most of the ball in the Strands half.
Half Time came, and it was one nil, and the lads were on the back of the glaring sun for the second half, with a switch from a 433 to a 442 and the introduction of Matthew Gillen from the sub bench seem to lift the game again, he was no sooner on and a strike which turned the Strand Right Back in a spin from just inside the 18 yard box, he rattled a shot into the top right conner hitting the inside of the post and rattled the net with a stunning finish. The mood of the team had settled and the boys in black were on fire, shots coming from everywhere, the Strand keeper making some great saves, Jack Mc Gowan was pushed up front and was rewarded with a great goal from a good run, the keeper had no chance. On form Darragh o Sullivan and Ryan Lang both hit the net with great shots, soon after Jack made a blistering run from a pass from centre mid only to be taken down in a bad tackle inside the box, ref was straight to the whistle, Jack, cool as he could be struck a great strike to see the keeper beaten.
It was shot after shot and Strand were lucky to have a great keeper on the day, or it could have been in the double figures, Ryan scored the 7 goal to finish out the game. Matthew Brennan had little work to do in goals but done great when needed, the back four Marc, Daniel, Dylan, and Charlie Joe all had a great game, Danny on the wing also put in a great performance along with Nathan who is improving hugely in every game.

Monday night seen a big clash, these two teams had never meet before. Boyle Celtic over the years have lost very few games and are a well very organised team. Benbulben started the game on fire with some brilliant passing which rattled the Boyle side, Boyle after 15 minutes settled into game and put the pressure on knocking some long balls over our defence line, our back four with Hugh in front done great work keeping Boyle lads away from the goals. Some clever play seen Birthday boy and captain on the night Jack Mc Gowan rattle the back of the Boyle net, Boyle kept putting the pressure on us taking plenty of shots, some going wide and were unlucky not to score. Soon after with a great high press from the mid field, and on into the 18-yard box seen Jack deliver a pass to the left footer Ryan Lang, with a powerful strike, stuck the ball in the net.
We were 2 nil up at halftime, second half seen Boyle coming out with all guns firing, they put the pressure on us right from the start, our lads at the back were under pressure and a clearance seen a high ball coming down touch the arm off one of our lads, which resulted in a penalty, we were sure this was a goal, But it somehow was kicked straight over the bar, soon after Boyle scored which lifted them, but it wasn’t to be for this well organised team. Subbed back on for the last 10 minutes seen Matthew Gillen score, a blistering run through midfield from Ryan Lang to give an inch perfect assist to Matthew who made a sprint from the halfway line to connect with the ball and slot it into the back of the net. A well-deserved win but Boyle were unlucky not to score more goals as too were the Benbulben boys, it was an exciting game from start to finish. These two sides will meet again soon which should see another great game. Well done to Boyle on a great game.

Best of luck to Ryan as he heads to Dublin today to train with players from some big clubs around Dublin, this is part of the selection to train and play with the U13 Ireland team. Arrow Harps 1... Benbulben FC 4
After a tough start to the season and a heavy defeat to a strong Salthill Devon in the cup, the lads bounced back with a huge win against Arrow Harps, Harps were out to win and had a great start scoring after a few minutes, our lads didn't panic but just got stuck in, we had most of the possession throughout the game, we had two goals disallowed and Arrow had one disallowed due to offside which was debatable, but that's football.
Pauric Mc Sharry got one back, his second goal in two games, Daniel White playing Left back played probably his best game ever and is improving all the time, Hugh kept his back line tight and in good shape, Ryan and Darragh showed their great skills in central midfield.
Before half Time Danny, who's move out to the wing seems to be suiting him nicely, scored the next goal bringing the game to 2-1.
Still a lot of work to do to bring the game home in the second half, we had a few chances but nothing hitting the back of the net, Jack McGowan was unlucky not to score from a free kick just outside the box, the Harps keeper making a save any Premier league keeper would be glad of. We kept pushing forward and had most of the possession again, but it wasn't until injured Matthew Gillen came on for the last 10 minutes , the game seemed to get a lift, and the tempo went up a notch with two more goals scored in the last few minutes , he had some great runs up the left side and was very unlucky not to score when and inch perfect pass from Jack give him the ball, it was just himself and the keeper to fight it out, with the keeper making another great save and winning the battle. Jack up front scored our third goal and added his 8th goal of the season. Time was running out and we knew we had the game won but we weren't finished yet a blistering run down the left from Matthew seen Jake sneak another goal from a cross in from Matthew.
The two keeper's Matthew Brennan and Aaron took a half a game each and done well in goals.
Game finished 4-1 to the boys in black.
Great performances from every player, U 13 coaches were very happy with all the lad's and are hoping they can push on and win a few more games.

With a slow start to the game from our lads, the nerves finally settled and it was shot after shot, but the ball wasn't hitting the back of the net, with some great saves from the Dunmore keeper keeping all level, with a quick change of positions after 15min we seen 2 goals scored and one taken off the goal line and one hitting the post. Second half the boys in black came out all guns blasting, all players played as a team and gave a 100% commitment, Jack McGowan not only got a hatrick but put another one top of it, Ryan Lang took a great free kick to see the ball hit the back of the net, Darragh ó Sullivan made a great run to put another pass the keeper. New kid on the block Jake Trewby with his first game up in the group got some great chances up front on the right, soon after he got taken down in the box, ref was straight to the Whistle and it was a penalty, a well struck shot seen the ball hit the back of the net, shortly after he stuck another in the back of the net. Well done to the lads this afternoon and thanks to the parents for travelling.

These lads enjoy one of the best summers of their life, 12 days out in Castlebar training by top FAI coaches and playing with some of the best Sligo-Leitrim and Mayo have got to offer.
September brought on 7 day's training and trials inside in Cleveragh, where all the lad's got called back to train and play with Sligo-Leitrim panel for the next few months.

⚽⚽⚽ Training Returns This Evening ⚽⚽⚽

We start our new season this evening moving from U12 to U13, training is on the astro from 7-8pm with our first group.
Next group will be tomorrow Thursday on the astro from 7-8pm.

Our first league game is the 11th September.
Our first friendly is this Saturday in Ballisodare against Claremorris @ 2pm.

Best of luck to any of the lads starting in secondary school this week, it's a new and exciting adventure for you.

It's been a busy few weeks for this bunch, they hit Cleveragh tomorrow at 12:30 for the Sligo-Leitrim Youths Schoolboys & Schoolgirls league trials.
From all the U12 coaches we wish you the very best of luck.

Well done to the 5 lads that have been called back to the next block in Castlebar FAI Emerging Talent Programme, another 6 days of Training in August.
Lads trained in some blistering conditions last week with temperatures reaching 30 Deg in Castlebar.
They all played excellent football sometimes even playing against each other.
It's a great experience for them.

Hard luck to the lad's yesterday, its wasn't our day, the scoreline didn't reflect the game, 3 long balls from the keeper caught us out and their striker caught us at the back, we had most of the possession for most of the game and played much better football,we were unlucky not to get 3 or 4 more goals, we just couldn't get the ball in the net, the lads deserved the win but it wasn't to be, they all played their part and done excellent. Our two goals came from Matthew Gillen with, inch perfect passes from Ryan Lang.

Also hard luck to the C group who were beaten by a very strong Strand Celtic.

Our last training session will take place next Friday at 7:15 to 8:30, it will be a fun session with lots of fun games, we will have pizza, chips and treats after for all the lad's.
Please let us know on the Schedule if you can take part, as we will need numbers to order food.
We will take a short break before returning in early August for the season ahead.

Group A make the Shield Final 👏👏

Well done to the lads against Carrick last Wednesday, Daniel White scored a great first goal to ease the nerves with Matthew Gillen scoring the winner, later Carrick pulled one back, Matthew Brennan pulled off some unreal saves keeping the game to the boys in black.
We made it 3 games out of 3, meaning we are joined top with Arrow Harps and Boyle, but third on Goal difference so this means we will play in the Shield Final which is a great achievement.
We will play Manor Rangers in Manorhamilton next Saturday at 12.
