The Battle of Aughrim 1691 Interpretative Centre, located at Aughrim, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway H53 KH51, open now until September 1st 2024. The Battle of Aughrim happened on the 12th July 1691. At this interpretative centre visitors can discover the story of three rival kings: King James II; William of Orange; and King Louis XIV, who took hold of Ireland during their struggle for power. With over 45000 soldiers gathering at Aughrim, it proved to be the defining Battle of the Williamite War on Ireland. The Centre features a Diorama Display of the Battlefield; audio-visual material; interpretive panels; and artefacts from the Martin Joyce Collection; self-guided maps of the battle site; costumes; photo stand in; uniformed mannequins; and kids battlefield diorama.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am - 4.30pm ; Sundays 2pm - 5pm and we are closed on Mondays. Contact details are: 0909673939/0876844253
Admission fees are €5 for Adult; €4 for student or OAP; children €2; and a family ticket of two adults and two children under 12 years old costs €12.
