A little throwback to the past with this picture taken in 1933 or 1934 in the Cathedral grounds in Sligo. On the 6th December the 2/3/10th Sligo (Town) Scout Group celebrated their 90th Anniversary with the first investiture held on the same date in 1932.
At the time, Mr. Martin Pilkington was the first Scoutmaster and was assisted by Mr. James Gannon who later became Alderman and Mayor of Sligo Borough Corporation.
We would like to thank all the past and present (and potentially future) leaders for their dedication to the group who have enabled young people to build the skills needed to maximise life's opportunities.
90 years ago, Scouting in Sligo officially begun with its first investiture on the 6th December 1932 in the Gillooly Hall.
90 years later, we are still active.
Let's make sure Scouting in the North West continues for another 90 years in the future!

We welcome our new Cubs to the section tomorrow night and so we thought we'd share some of the antics we got up to in the last year. We had our first camp / overnight since 2019, practiced our adventure skills, achieved our 4 Season 6 Hike challenge and much more!
As we prepare for the new Cubs joining our section next week, we are excited to have such a big group with us this year. We never imagined that we'd have so many going into our 90th year of scouting in Sligo.
If you would like to join our waiting list (Cubs are 9 - 11 years), please send your interest through DM or email [email protected].
We will be having a registration evening soon, so if you are interested in joining Scouts, make sure to get in touch by the 12th September. Of course anyone can join at any time within the year :)
You can message this page (where we will pass on your details), or you can email the group directly - [email protected]
Happy Scouting!
Our Scout section (12- 15 years), are looking for new members to join! For both boys and girls, this will be a great opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends and build independence.
If you or anyone you know have children who are interested, please message this page directly (so that we can pass on your details) or send an email to [email protected].
Attached are some pictures of the Scouts out camping at Lough Dan this year.
We've had a busy few weeks and here are some of the highlights!
More exciting adventures to come ^_^
Great night at cubs this evening. Played loads of games (and a game of dodge ball against their leaders).
The Cubs were busy the last few weekends hiking around Sligo. Exploring Dooney Rock and Slish Wood, they practiced their backwoods, emergencies, hiking among other skills. Many more adventures to come 😊
Well done to all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Scouters and Parents who attended today's Christmas market at the IT. Here's a display of some of the items that were on sale. Keep an eye out for us next week!
The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were busy making a range of items that will be on sale at our stall at the Christmas Market tomorrow morning from 9am to 1pm at IT Sligo.
Please come and support if you can ^_^
