Sligo Southern Hotel Super League
Calry Bohs 1-2 Carbury
Carbury came from behind to beat Calry Bohs in Hazelwood on Wednesday evening, moving two points ahead of Gurteen Celtic at the top of the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League.
Ryan McManus came close to opening the scoring after five minutes, but dragged his shot wide.
And Ivan Paramonov was gifted an opportunity for Calry Bohs, but he sent his effort way over the bar from close range.
The league’s leading goalscorer Eoin Nicholson added his 16th of the season after 14 minutes to put Calry ahead.
Carbury levelled the score after 29 minutes when Chris Kelly’s inviting ball was turned into his own net by the unfortunate Billy McCarthy.
A good save from Jack Teape forced Conor Griffin’s free kick over, before Carbury thought they had a second.
As Ryan McManus went to ground outside the box, Steven Armstrong collected the ball and scored at an awkward angle.
Carbury’s celebrations were cut short as the referee blew before it hit the net, and McManus was penalised for what the referee said was a dive.
The sides were level at half-time, and Carbury burst out of the blocks after the restart.
McManus’ superb volley on 46 minutes looked destined for the net, but a brilliant save from Farrell in goals denied Carbury a second as it was tipped over the bar.
And a minute later, Carbury had their second courtesy of another own goal.
This time the unfortunate Griffin got the last touch from a Carbury corner before it hit the back of the net.
It was a tight second half as Carbury sought a third and Calry tried to find an equaliser, but in the end Damien Dunleavy’s side held out for an important win.
We are back in action on Sunday as we take on Glenview Stars at MacSharry Park on Sunday morning.
Carbury have two games in hand on Gurteen Celtic who are in second place, two points behind.
Team: Jack Teape, Lee Conway, Dylan Henry, Rian Gorman, Aaron Murren (Johnny Lynch, 46), Niall Brennan (Kyle Cawley, 84), Steven Armstrong, Mark Hannon, Chris Kelly, Zach Gilligan (Mark McGoldrick, 46), Ryan McManus (James Heraghty, 84).

As weather and April go it can be nice or not nice but nothing was going to dampen the spirits of the Aughanagh faithful as they came out in droves to watch their team clinch the premier league title. The scene of red and white colour was glorious as The game became almost second nature as ex players and fans throughout the huge crowd embraced at the thought of the premier league title residing in the parish of Aughanagh for the next year. The pitch in Ballinafad was immaculate and was ready to hold a league title finale. Goals from Seamus Hailstones, James Kiernan, Seamus Kane, Arthur Wall and Barry Cryan secured a 5 : 1 victory for Aughanagh. I’m sure Hailstones and Kiernan are in the eyes of John Loftus. Credit to Valley Rovers who preformed so admirably throughout the game but it was Aughanaghs night. At the end, through the scenes of jubilation and after some words from Aughanagh’s secretary Kevin Cryan who graciously thanked so many, Noel and Robert Kennedy presented the medals and trophy on behalf of Sligo Pallets and SLDL to the Aughanagh captain Darragh Hailstones. The noise was deafening and euphoric! It’s super league football again for one of the oldest clubs in Sligo Leitrim football and how they are looking forward to exciting times ahead
