Looking for something to do with the kids on Bank Holiday Monday, June 3rd?
Why not call in to Waterford Garda Station between 1pm and 4pm and meet some of the Emergency Services and see the Station.

Also we are holding a quiet hour (no emergency lights or sirens) from 1pm to 2pm for anyone with sensory issues.

World Down Syndrome Day 😊

Thank you to Waterford City and County Libraries and The Gruffalo for their visit to the Preschool this morning. The children were very excited to meet our special guest.

Happy World Book Day from all the Staff in the Preschool.

Parents and Guardians did you know that if you have a child under 4 years of age you are invited to collect a free bedtime story pack from the Library. In October 2023, the library invited all children aged 4 and under to call into the Library to pick up their books. The aim was to engage all parents of young children to read stories with them at bedtime. The libraries welcome you to call in to your local branch in the new few weeks. ✨ Play and Say- Top Tips for Learning Language Through Play ✨

Playing is a child's job! It's not just fun, it's also key to learning language.

When you join your child's game, pause... see what they are doing and try to follow their lead. Children are the experts after all!

Think about the different kinds of words you can use during the game:
✦Action words - push, jump, build, fall, crash, blow
✦Describing words - big, colourful, tall, bouncy, sticky, slippy
✦Naming words - ball, bubble, slide, car, floor, grass

Remember to use short sentences and emphasise the key words. Talk about what you are doing.

Use pausing and waiting rather than questions to encourage your child to communicate!

That’s it for the end of another Preschool Year , we’ve had a great week this week , From Nore Valley Park coming to us with the animals on Monday to our Teddy bears 🧸 picnic yesterday and to the Disco they had this morning 🪩 Enjoy the summer holiday’s 🌞
