Closing of The Dwelling Place of NY For 45 years The Dwelling Place of New York, a sponsored ministry of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, has served as a transitional shelter in midtown Manhattan for women experiencing homelessness.

Today we had a visit with TD Bank. We are discussing how to work together in the future.

Our newest neighbors came to figure out ways to partner with us. One of the first things they did was volunteer to server meals on Wednesday night. We are looking forward to all of the projects we are planning together. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Each one of us knows someone who is experiencing mental health issues. Some people are so afraid to ask for help because there remains a huge stigma around treatment. Some we dare say feel as if their life is not worth it and do whatever they can to end that life when perhaps just one phone call might have helped.

We don't believe that because someone decided that "May is mental health awareness day". We strongly believe that every day should be mental heath awareness. Help end the so more people will seek early intervention.

First day of work !

Preparing for Wednesdays is a team effort . We receive wonderful donations from NYC Love KitchenSt Francis Breadlineand Holy Cross. If you didn’t have such generous partners we would never be able to feed 400/week. The gentleman in the photo visits us every Wednesday. He said yesterday “ you help me so now I can help you” Thank you to all who assist

We are excited for this years Purple Gala which is being hosted by Cobi Levy at his newest restaurant . The MC is Melissa Russo from NBC. All proceeds go directly to programs for our residents.
