On August 1, 2024, students of the Saachi Japanese Language Institute gathered at the Gingko restaurant in Pune. The event was a delightful gathering where students could connect and enjoy a fun-filled evening. The highlight of the meet-up was an engaging quiz competition. The meeting left the students with a sense of accomplishment and a deeper appreciation for the Japanese language and culture.

Japan experiences about 20 to 30 typhoons each year. These cyclones form over the northwest Pacific Ocean, and while some may not make a lasting impact, several can cause flash rain, floods, and structural damage. Okinawa Prefecture sees an average of seven or eight typhoons, while the Japanese main islands—especially Kyushu and Shikoku—typically encounter around three typhoons annually. However, these powerful storms can affect any region in Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Hokkaido.

3. Bangalore: Several Miyawaki forests have been developed, including those at Hejjala, Banaswadi Railway Station, Agara Lake, and Bommasandra Industrial Area.
4. Navi Mumbai: Nisarg Udyan, a 42-acre park, features a dense Miyawaki forest.
5. Tiruchirappalli and Lalgudi: These cities have also adopted the Miyawaki method for urban afforestation.
6. Thiruvananthapuram: Various Miyawaki forests have been planted in schools and other urban areas.

The Dojo () is a martial arts training center. Its founder, Vinayak Shetty sensei, is known for his expertise in Kyokushin Karate. Kyokushin Karate, meaning “To Seek the Ultimate Truth”, is a stand-up, full-contact karate style known for emphasizing intense physical training and discipline.
On the National Day of Japan in Bangalore, Shetty-sensei demonstrated Kyokushin Karate. His demonstration showcased the power and precision of Kyokushin Karate, reflecting the spirit of this martial art. His ability to convey the principles of Kyokushin Karate through his demonstration speaks to his deep understanding of this martial art form. This event was a great opportunity for attendees to learn more about Japanese culture and martial arts and to witness the skill and dedication of a seasoned practitioner like Shetty sensei.

Karate, a Japanese martial art from Okinawa, evolved from indigenous and Chinese influences, focusing on striking techniques like punches and kicks. Meaning "empty hand," it emphasizes unarmed combat. Practitioners (karateka) develop physical fitness, discipline, and self-defense skills through kata (forms), kumite (sparring), and kihon (basic techniques).
