The first preference out of all those is ‘vrat vale chips’ with chai. Have you ever thought about replacing this packet of chips with alu tikki instead? If you are confused after reading this line, there are high chances thar your perspective of alu tikki and vrat vale chips will change at the end of the post.
Vrat vale chips are branded as light and healthy, but they might be the ones contributing to bloating and acidity during fasts. Not only do they contain a lot of carbohydrates, but the number of calories present is 558 kcal in just a 100 g packet! These are all empty calories. That means, they have 0 food value. Whereas,100 g of garma-garam Alu tikki contains only 97 calories. The tikki will keep you full for long, which the whole packet of chips cannot.
Now, if we talk about the amount of fat present in these ‘famous for all wrong reasons’ packet of chips, they contain 38.4 grams of fat per 100 grams! You will be shocked to know how much fat the same amount of tikki contains- as little as 5 grams! Also, the fat present in processed chips is saturated fat which is the root cause of heart problems and obesity.
These vrat vale chips also contain a considerable amount of sodium, which is detrimental to health and may lead to dehydration while fasting. On the other hand, alu tikki is low on sodium as you can add salt as per your taste preference.
BOTTOM LINE
If you are fasting, we will suggest you eat something nourishing and filling to help you go through the day. Alu tikki here is the clear winner. Vrat vale chips stand nowhere close.
After reading this, you can be assured to have 1 or 2 Alu tikkis guilt-free and not worry about gaining extra weight during this fasting period of Navratras.
But, remember, like everything excess consumption of alu tikki is bad. Eat the tikkis in a controlled portion (1-2 small or medium sized tikkis that are shallow fried) and you are good to go!

1. Is it weight loss? Opt for roti with low calories like wheat roti, jowar roti.
2. Is it muscle building? Opt for protein-superior rotis like Besan roti and sattu roti.
