Grandparents' Day Celebration at Gurukul Global School: A Tribute to Family Heritage.

Today, Gurukul Global School was alive with joy and nostalgia as we celebrated Grandparents' Day, a special event that honoured the cherished theme of Family Heritage. The day was marked by vibrant festivities, heartfelt tributes, and enthusiastic participation from our beloved grandparents.

The event commenced with a poignant Diya lighting ceremony, symbolizing the illumination brought into our lives by our grandparents. This was followed by a touching presentation that beautifully compiled the treasured memories shared by grandparents with their grandchildren. The Aarti ceremony, a central highlight of the day, deeply moved many grandparents, reflecting the profound connection and respect between generations.

The day was filled with various competitions, showcasing the talents and creativity of our grandparents. Here are the highlights:

Our honorable President, Mrs. Neena Setya, Managing Director Mr. Parveen Setya, and Director Mr. Devraj Setya extended their heartfelt appreciation to all the grandparents and children for their incredible efforts and enthusiasm. Their presence added a special touch to the celebration, underlining the significance of family bonds.

Principal, Mrs Urvashi Kakkar concluded the event by expressing gratitude to everyone for their gracious participation and wished all a Happy Grandparents’ Day.

The day was a beautiful celebration of love, legacy, and family heritage, a truly memorable event for everyone involved.

U-17, 23rd Pandit Mohan Lal Memorial Basketball Tournament

Another feather of glory added in Gurukul Global School’s cap of achievements as they emerged as the winners of U-17, 23rd Pandit Mohan Lal Memorial Basketball Tournament held from 28 August 2024 to 30 August 2024 at SD Senior Secondary School, sector- 32.

The GGS team players, Rupender (XI), Sachin (XI), Dishant (IX), Yash (IX), Ajju (XI), Ujjawal (XI), Deepak (XI), Jaskaran (X), Yatharth (X), Kanav(X), Divye (XII) & Ansh (XI) defeated the host school- SD School, Sector-32, Chandigarh with a towering score of 68-45 in the final match and displayed exemplary performance and sportsmanship.

In our recent Nursery Yellow classroom activity, we focused on shape recognition and fine motor skills. The students participated in a hands-on exercise where they guided a ribbon from one side to match it with the corresponding shape on the opposite side. This activity not only reinforced their understanding of different shapes but also enhanced their hand-eye coordination, concentration, and problem-solving abilities.

Creating alphabet through hands-on activities for Nursery kids was a fun and effective way to enhance their learning. By molding and shaping each letter, children developed fine motor skills and a better understanding of letter formation. This tactile experience not only reinforced letter recognition but also sparked creativity as they crafted each letter with their own hands. Through this engaging process, kids learned the alphabet in a playful and interactive way.

'Cup stacking activity' was a fun and engaging activity for the Nursery Green students that helped them develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Kids stacked and unstacked colorful plastic cups in various patterns and sequences, which fostered spatial awareness and problem-solving abilities.

It was great way to encourage teamwork and friendly competition as they saw who could build the tallest or most creative cup tower.

The students of class XI and XII, participated in a dynamic Math Quiz subject activity, aimed at enhancing their problem-solving skills and fostering a love for mathematics, organised and conducted by their Mathematics mentors.

The competition was structured in multiple rounds, including rapid-fire questions, problem-solving challenges, and mental math exercises. Students demonstrated their mathematical prowess by tackling a wide range of questions, from basic arithmetic to complex algebraic equations.

The activity was both educational and entertaining, encouraging teamwork, quick thinking, and analytical skills.

Gurukul Global School recently organised an exciting educational excursion for its grade VIII - X scholars to Kurukshetra.

Mixed with frolic and fun, the students were able to correlate their classroom learnings with the practical and delightful science experiments in Kurukshetra Science Centre and Kalpana Chawla Planetarium. The enticing artefacts, antics and chronicles of Brahma Sarovar as well as of Krishna Museum also captured the attention of the students, enabling them to relate their history lessons with the displays.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed and cherished the marvellous experience, delicious food, breathtaking places and the quality time they got to spend with their classmates and teachers. This expedition was a success in providing the students with experiential learning with lots of fun.

Janmashtami was celebrated with immense zeal and grandeur at Gurukul Global School today, transforming the day into a vibrant tapestry of devotion and joy. The special assembly, a focal point of the day, saw enthusiastic participation from both the junior and senior schools, marking the occasion with a series of captivating performances.

The students enthralled the audience with a dramatic play that beautifully depicted the life of Lord Krishna. Their portrayal brought to life the divine escapades and teachings of Krishna, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present. The festivities continued with spirited dance performances set to the melodious tunes of Radha and Krishna songs. The rhythmic and graceful dances captured the essence of Krishna’s divine playfulness.

Adding to the spiritual atmosphere, the school choir rendered bhajans with a purity and devotion that resonated deeply with the audience. The junior school also radiated charm, with the children dressed in vibrant Radha and Krishna attire, embodying the spirit of the festival.
A major highlight of the celebration was the Palki Yatra of Krishna, a symbolic procession that was both moving and visually stunning. This was followed by the traditional Aarti and the much-anticipated Handi Ceremony, which added an element of festive excitement and engagement for all.

In addition to the performances, the students were actively involved in learning more about Krishna’s life. They participated in an interactive session where they answered questions about Krishna’s teachings and deeds. Several students also took the stage for a show and tell, sharing their insights and creativity related to the occasion.

The celebration was graced by the presence of our esteemed Director, Mr. Devraj Setya, and Principal, Mrs. Urvashi Kakkar, who conveyed their warmest wishes and heartfelt blessings to all. Their encouragement and support added a special touch to the event, making it even more memorable.

Psychology students of class XI Humanities participated in the classroom activity of ‘Chinese Whisper’ conducted by their mentor ‘Ms. Pushpinder Kaur.’

The activity was mapped out and administered with the aim of making the students comprehend the concept of ‘Memory’ which is a constructive process, creating the stimulus if not properly understood. For the activity, the students were arranged in a line and then a riddle was given to the first child who whispered the same words in the ears of the next child. Continuing the process the last student had to speak the words out loud, but the outcome proved to be hilariouas mostly the last student's version was quite different from the original.

With a view to emphasizing the importance of clear communication, enabling the students to understand the functioning of a radio station, students of class XI and XII visited '94.3 MY FM, Jiyo Dil Se' station in Sector 25, Chandigarh.

It proved to be a unique experience for the students as they got a chance to meet RJ Apurva. She gave detailed information to them of how the programme is put on air and the functioning of the other departments in making a programme successful.

This trip aimed at making students aware of the benefits that FM technology, it's allied technologies and means of communication can bring to the society and go a long way in bridging the digital divide. Students put numerous queries regarding the managing of the station, who does the scripting, language to be used during the programme, interviews and radio talks conducted with the celebrities, how a radio station earns revenue, making of songs and jingles for ads and movie trailers etc.

They expressed deep curiosity and got all their answers as they realised that everything the RJs said on air involved rigorous preparation. They understood that they had to brainstorm every day and come up with ideas before going on air.

Students also asked questions on taking up 'Radio Jockeying' as a carrer option and the educational requirements for the same.

All queries were answered to their heart's content. The field trip proved to be quite informative and a memorable one.

The students of class IX mesmerised everyone as they performed the ‘Role Play’ activity under the guidance of their English language mentors.

The drama was based on the lesson ‘The Kingdom of Fools’ which is a humorous account of a kingdom penned down by A. K. Ramanujan.

The activity allowed the group of students to showcase their creativity and knowledge. It also helped in evolving their theatrical skills. The apt use of numerous colourful props by the kids added more credit and grace to their wonderful performances. It was a lively and delightful session well integrated with intellect.

Gurukul Global School's Social Science Department recently conducted a creative activity for Class VI students, focusing on the details of the Harappan Civilization. The students were given the opportunity to create collages by drawing or cutting out images of pottery, jewellery and cities like Mohenjo-Daro. Through this hands-on project, they explored various aspects of daily life in the ancient civilization, making the learning process both engaging and memorable. Working in groups, students shared their observations on the assigned project. The objective was to enhance students' knowledge of history while fostering creativity, teamwork and critical thinking skills.

The students created PowerPoint presentations on the topic of ‘Cyber Safety’. Through this activity, they not only learned about cyber safety but also explored the role of indigenous technologies and their impact. The objective was to raise awareness about safe online practices while helping students develop essential digital skills.
