We all know about menopause and how it impacts the health of every woman. But before reaching menopause, the drastic fluctuations of hormones resulting in various symptoms that is not known or taken care of is – “Perimenopause”.
Women and their families either never identify or doesn't know much about this rollercoaster phase.
Perimenopause,
- Starts around 5-10 years before the actual menopause.
- Can start from 35 years onwards but usually from 40s.
- Actual menopause symptoms are seen during this phase.
- Both estrogen and progesterone hormones fluctuate variably.
Symptoms throughout perimenopause mainly include,
* Hot flashes
* Cognitive changes
* Angry, Anxiety, Depression
* Cravings
* Sleep disturbances, Insomnia
* Headaches/Migraines
* Joint and muscle pains
* Bloating and effect on digestive system
* Chest Heaviness
* Weight gain
* Skin problems
* Low libido
