Today, the Indian Red Cross Society's Guwahati District Branch celebrated World Health Day 2023 on the campus of Red Cross Hospital. In the programme, the secretary of the branch, Mr. Deba Prasad Sarma, the CMO of the Red Cross Hospital, the Doctor of the Red Cross Hospital, and the PNO of the Red Cross Nursing Training Centre were present. In the programme, the students of the Red Cross Nursing Training Centre performed three one-act plays related to our health. The staff of the branch also shares their views about health and diseases.

Today, the chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society Guwahati District Branch and Assam State Branch, Mr. A K Absar Hazarika, presented as one of the panellists at the State Level CSO Consultation on Climate Change in Assam held at the Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati. He delivered his speech on the topic "Climate Change: Impacts and Effective Adaptive Strategies in Assam."

The Indian Red Cross Society Guwahati District Branch's annual general meeting was held today at the Red Cross Hospital Building in Chandmari, Guwahati. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Jay Shivani, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro. The chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, and secretary of the branch, as well as other life members of the branch, attended the meeting. During the meeting, the branch's activity report from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 was distributed to the current members. The members also discussed several important issues of the branch and recommended various suggestions for improvement of the society to the service of the people.

On the occasion of Republic Day, today the honourable chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society's Guwahati District Branch, Mr. A.K. Absar Hazarika, hoisted the national flag at the office premises. Along with him, the secretary of the branch, Mr. Deba Prasad Sarma, and other members, staff, and students of the Red Cross Nursing Training Center attended the programme.

Today, the Indian Red Cross Society Guwahati District Branch participated in a road safety programme organised by the Transport Department of Assam and the District Transport Office of Kamrup Metro. In this program, an all-modern MOBILE HEALTH VAN of Red Cross Hospital, Chandmari was also demonstrated to the public that was donated by the Indian Red Cross Society, National Office, New Delhi . The family of the Red Cross requests all the people to drive safely and save their own lives along with others.

On the occasion of Navy Day, a blood donation camp was organised by the 48 Assam Navel Unit NCC in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Guwahati District Branch on December 4, 2022, with support from the GMCH Blood Bank at Narengi Military Station. Almost 50 NCC cadets have participated in the event. We give them our thanks and appreciate them for their noble cause.

Today, the new managing committee of the Assam State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society took oath at the Red Cross Bhawan, Kedar Road, Machkhowa. The chairman of IRCS GDB, Mr. A. K. Absar Hazarika, takes on the new responsibility as the chairman of the Assam State Branch, too. We, the IRCS GDB, give our warm wishes to the Chairman, Vice Chairman Hemanta Gohain, Treasurer Prakash D. Atreya, and the other members of the managing committee. We hope that under their leadership, the Assam Red Cross will do the best it can for our society.

Today To honour Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on the occasion of his 96th birthday, a programme was held at IRCS GDB. Mr. Deba Prasad Sarma, the branch secretary, Mr. Sadhan Chakraborty, the manager of finance and administration, and other employees of the branch sang some of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's great songs during this performance.

Indian Red Cross Guwahati District Branch is delighted to support Indian Red Cross Kokrajhar District Branch in conducting training on "First Aid & Basic Life Saving Techniques" for SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) personnel at it's 6th BN campus, Kokraihar. Total 44 participants were well trained during 29th Aug to 3rd Sep, 2022. We will continue the mission to train more SSB personnel in upcoming days.

To commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence through the grand celebration of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," Indian Red Cross Society, Guwahati District Branch supported in organizing a voluntary blood donation camp to 48 Assam Naval Unit NCC today at Red Cross Hospital, Chandmari, Guwahati with generous support from the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital Blood Bank in collaboration with the Alumni Association of Guwahati Group, NCC. Around 30 most dedicated volunteers and NCC cadets donated their bloods to save lives in an emergency. We wholeheartedly extend our gratitude to the volunteers for their selfless endeavour. Their humanitarian efforts will always strengthen our society.

It’s Another day of accomplishment and gratification for Indian Red Cross Guwahati District Branch for being able to extend humanitarian support to several badly affected disadvantaged populations through Family Rehabilitation Kits at Bilasipara on 7th Aug, 2022. Around 250 Family Rehabilitation Kits distributed to those people under Assam Flood Response- 2022. We are thankful to the Bilasipara Sub-District Branch along with our volunteers for wonderful cooperation and glorious humanitarian service.

From August 11th to August 27th, the application form for admission to the 68th batch of 2-year ANM course at RED CROSS NURSING TRAINING CENTRE, GUWAHATI for the academic year 2022–2023 will be available. Interested students can apply online on the official website www.ircsgdb.org.

Continuing our efforts towards Emergency Humanitarian Operation for Assam Flood Response- 2022, Indian Red Cross has distributed Family Rehabilitation Kits to 250 badly affected households by recent devastating flood in Bilasipara Sub Division of Dhuburi District of Assam.
