Hyderabad: A woman axed her husband to death when he was allegedly misbehaving with their four-year-old daughter at Sulthanpur village in Choutakur mandal, Medak, on Wednesday night, June 26.

According to reports, the man regularly abused his daughter, blaming her for financial difficulties and subjected her to harassment. Enraged by his repeated behaviour during a quarrel with his daughter, the wife took up an axe and attacked him, resulting in his death on the spot.

Upon learning about the incident, the locals alerted the police. A case has been registered into the incident. The victim’s body has been shiftedto a government hospital in Sangareddy for a postmortem. Further investigations are underway.

A 48-year-old United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Hyderabadi man won a staggering one million dollars (Rs 8,34,46,150) in the latest Dubai Duty Free (DDF) Millennium Millionaire draw.

The winner, Khaliq Naik Mohammed, became a one million dollar winner in Millennium Millionaire Series 465 with ticket number 3813, which he purchased online.

Khaliq, who works as a engineer-instructor at a university, has been living in Abu Dhabi since 2012. He has been participating in the draw from the past four years.

When asked about his initial plans with his win, he said: “Most of the funds will go to my children’s education and our family’s future, while I will also do some charity works.”

Khaliq is the 232nd Indian to win one million dollars since the launch of the Millennium Millionaire Show in 1999.

The Islamic Republic of Iran will elect its new president as the country is set to go to the polls on June 28, 2024. The election activity will be observed in many places across the world, including Hyderabad.

A ballot box will be kept at Iranian consulate in Hyderabad for the eligible voters of Iranian diaspora to elect the country’s ninth president.

After the last president, Ebrahim Raisi, died in a helicopter crash last month, Vice-President Mohammed Mokhber assumed the presidency during Raisi’s tenure.

However, Mokhber and another ultraconservative presidential candidate, Tehran mayor Alireza Zakani, have reportedly withdrawn their candidacy ahead of the 14th presidential election.

The India vs England semi-final clash does not have a reserve day but has been granted an additional 250 minutes time to complete the fixture beyond the usual cut-off period.

For the semi-finals and final, a minimum of 10 overs have to be bowled in each innings to constitute a match. Failing to play 10 overs each, the team finishing at the top of their Super Eight group advances to the final which means India will progress to the finals.

If there is a tie, and weather conditions prevent the Super Over from being completed, or if the match is abandoned due to weather or for whatever reason the game is a no result, then the team that finished first in its Second Round Group (Super 8) will progress to the Final.

As per the latest weather update, the conditions remain overcast with rain probability increasing at the time of toss.

Hyderabad: A constable stationed at the RGIA police station was arrested for allegedly s*xually assaulting and blackmailing a 17-year-old girl on Thursday, June 27. The officials seized his mobile phone.

The accused, Rajula Pradeep is a constable from the 2020 batch, who met the girl two years ago. He befriended her and subsequently recorded n**e videos of her using his mobile phone.

An official from the Rajendranagar police station said, “On Wednesday evening, June 26, following a complaint, we registered a case against the constable who had allegedly threatened the victim with n**e videos and photographs, and s*xually assaulted her. Today, we arrested and produced him before the court.”

A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

According to reports, the constable previously worked at the Kukatpally and Rajendranagar police stations in Cyberabad, where similar complaints had been made against him in the past.

Hyderabad: The task force of the Food Safety Department of Telangana raided the Lulu Hypermarket in Kukatpally, Hyderabad and JNTU canteen, on Wednesday, June 26 and found several violations during the inspection.

Violations at the Lulu Hypermarket, Kukatpally

Several violations were found in the raid at Lulu Hypermarket in Kukatpally Hyderabad. Infested items in the bakery unit and expired food articles were found and discarded.

The updated copy of the FSSAI licence for the Lulu Hypermarket’s Hyderabad branch was also not displayed at the entrance premises. Further houseflies were reportedly hovering near the meat storage. “A notice will be issued and further actions will be taken accordingly,” the Telangana Food Safety Commissioner said on X.

JNTU, Hyderabad Canteen raided

Sri Sri caters at the JNTU Canteen was found in violation of hygiene standards during a raid by the food safety department at their campus in Hyderabad. Handlers were found without hedgers, aprons and gloves.

The semi-prepared food items and cut vegetables were left open without proper labelling and the kitchen premises were found to be in an unhygienic condition with food waste thrown directly on the floor.

The raid also revealed that the kitchen of the Hyderabad varsity also lacked insect-proof screens and the door was not fit for preventing the entry of pests. The outlet too had an improper FSSAI license. Medical fitness and pest control records were not made available.

New Delhi: An engineer, a rapper, YouTuber and now a robber too - this is how a man from Uttar Pradesh can be described who mugged an Ola driver as he was going through a "financial crisis".

The man was arrested from Ayodhya by the Delhi Police yesterday for shooting at and robbing the driver, Kulbhushan Sharma, of his mobile and cash in the national capital's Amar Colony area.

The accused told police he became a rapper after he failed to land a job even after studying computer science engineering. Even his career as a rapper failed to take off and that is why, he told the police, he committed the robbery.

The police got a call about the incident on June 23 at 1.30 am. When they reached the spot, they found the Ola car, the driver, however, had been shifted to a hospital by then.

The man, who boarded the cab from Dwarka Mod, had booked a ride till Kashmiri Gate bus stand, the driver told the police, adding on the way, he pointed a pistol and looted him.

When the car's fuel got low, he stopped at the petrol pump in Srinivas Puri area. He then snatched the driver's mobile phone and money. A frightened Mr Sharma got out of the car somehow and tried to flee the scene but the accused shot at him, injuring him.

The police soon after registered a case of robbery and attempt to murder and started investigating the matter. They scanned all the CCTV cameras on the route taken by the car. After going through the booking details in the Ola app, the accused was identified as A***n Rajvansh, a resident of Ayodhya.

He was arrested from his house in Ayodhya police arrested him. A***n Rajvansh told them that he had come to Delhi to collect some of his belongings from a friend's room. Mr Rajvansh, who did his Btech in Computer Science from Sri Ishwar College of Engineering in Coimbatore, said that he planned to rob the driver as he was going through a financial crisis.

He also told the police that he was carrying the pistol with him when he travelled from Ayodhya to Delhi.

Former Israeli Ambassador to India, Daniel Carmon, has said that India may be supplying weapons to Israel as a way of ‘returning the favour’ for Israeli support during the 1999 Kargil war.

In an interview with Israel’s Ynetnews, Daniel said that Israel was among the few countries that provided India with weapons during its conflict with Pakistan.

“The Indians always remind us that Israel was there for them during the Kargil war. The Indians don’t forget this and might now be returning the favour,” Daniel said.

Daniel’s remarks come amid reports that India is providing drones and artillery shells to Israel to support its forces in the war in Gaza.

India’s first private drone manufacturing facility in Hyderabad has supplied more than 20 Hermes 900 medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) UAVs to Israel, as reported by international defence business media outlet Shephard Media in February.

Hyderabad-based Adani-Elbit Advanced Systems India Ltd, a joint venture between India’s Adani Defence and Aerospace and Israel’s Elbit Systems, became the first entity to manufacture UAVs outside of Israel.

Hyderabad: A 12-year-old boy died was choked to death after his neck got entangled in the rope of a swing while he was playing at Dimda village in Chintalamanepalli mandal, Asifabad, on Tuesday, June 25.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Dage Anjanna, consciousness when the rope of the swing on which he was playing got tangled around his neck and tightened. His sister, who was playing along with him, noticed the incident and raised an alarm.

Residents nearby promptly rushed him to the hospital, but he tragically passed away before reaching the medical facility.

New Delhi: A woman in Uttar Pradesh's Agra claimed her arms were slit with a blade for refusing to have s*x with her mother-in-law. The police have registered a case of assault, dowry demand, and treachery against her husband, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and other relatives.

Agra's Anjali Chaturvedi married in 2022 and moved to Ghazipur with her husband. The abuse began soon after.

According to the FIR, the woman's mother-in-law "fell in love with her" and forced her to have s*x. When she refused, she was allegedly attacked and assaulted with a blade.

She said her mother-in-law spoke about love and established a physical relationship with her.

When she confided in her husband, he dismissed her and the mother-in-law began torturing her.

Adding to her woes, the in-laws allegedly made repeated dowry demands and abused her. She claimed she was forced to have s*x with her husband's friends when she failed to bring in more dowry.

The husband made her spend nights with his friends for more money, she claimed.

As the torture and abuse continued, Ms Chaturvedi got pregnant and gave birth in 2013. The husband reportedly questioned the paternity and refused to accept the child.

The police have launched an investigation based on the woman's complaint.

Kuwait: The authorities in Kuwait recently shut down a popular Indian restaurant operating secretly in an apartment in the Salmiya area after a promotional video of their establishment went viral on TikTok, local media reported.

The incident came to light when a restaurant owner hired an Indian TikTok celebrity to promote their establishment and attract customers.

As per a report by the Arabic daily Almajlliss, the video quickly went viral on social media, revealing the restaurant’s location and prompting the Ministry of Commerce to take action swiftly.

During an inspection, officials discovered violations, including the restaurant using government-subsidised materials, not adhering to safety regulations, and a strong gas smell in the apartment.

It is reported that the owner and staff of the restaurant have been referred to the Salmiya police station and are set to be deported.

This incident comes amid increased surveillance in Kuwait, particularly in buildings housing workers, following a tragic fire that killed 49 workers, primarily Indians.

Five people who were found loitering on the roads at night were sentenced to five days in jail by a city court on Tuesday.

Mohd Zaker (28), a car driver, Mohd Asif (35), a plumber, Shaik Mohiuddin (26), Mohd Azam (28) and Aijaz Khan (28), all workers and residents of Falaknuma, were taken into custody by Falaknuma police and presented before the court. The court sentenced them to five days in jail. All of them were shifted to Chanchalguda Jail.

The police alleged they had caught these persons while they were moving under suspicious circumstances and failed to give a convincing reply.

A 14-year-old Dalit boy was allegedly tied up and beaten by a man on the outskirts of Hyderabad for plucking a pomegranate from his house, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on June 22 at Kesaram village of Shabad mandal. The victim belonging to the SC community, scaled the compound wall of a house to pluck pomegranate from a tree, they said.

The house owner, a retired government school headmaster, caught the boy and tied his hands and legs with a rope and allegedly beat him up, they added.

A picture purportedly showing the boy lying on the ground has gone viral.

Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother on June 24, a case under IPC sections 342 (wrongful confinement) and 324 (voluntary causing hurt) and relevant sections of Juvenile Justice Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, was registered against the man and his son.

When the complainant went to the spot, the man and his son allegedly abused her, it added.

Further investigation was on.

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly drugged and gang-r***d by her ‘boyfriend’ and four others in Naredmet, police said.

According to the police, the victim had a ‘boyfriend’ from Neredmet. She used to go out with him on a bike. Recently, the boy r***d her after making her consume g***a at an isolated placed. Later, he introduced her to his other friends who also r***d her while all of them were under the influence of cannabis.

Upon returning home, the girl told her mother about the incident. Subsequently, a complaint was filed with Kachiguda police station.

Speaking to Siasat.com, sub-inspector of Kachiguda Police Station, Subhash, said, “Yesterday (on Monday) the victim’s mother filed a complaint against five people.”

Following the complaint, Kachiguda police registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to Naredmet police station for further investigations.
