Stitches that used in Kasuti Embroidery.

Ganti or Gavanti

Ganti means knot.
It is the typical Holbein stitch style done in a straight line, either vertically or horizontally or even diagonally.
This stitch is reversible and shows up the same on the front and back of the fabric.

2. Muragi

Muragi means twisted.
It is a variation of Holbein stitch. It has a ‘zig-zag’ nature. This can be made vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The diagonal pattern, with a ladder-like appearance, is used most popularly. Muragi is also used to fill up patterns.
This stitch is reversible and shows up the same on the front and reverse of the fabric.

3. Neygi or Negi

Neygi means to weave.
It is the typical pattern darning stitch. It uses running stitch to make patterns and gives a weaved effect. Neygi is now no longer popularly used in Kasuti hand embroidery, thanks to the weaving machines that do the job.
This stitch is reversible, but they tend to be like mirror images of each other.

4. Menthi

Menthe means fenugreek.
It uses the typical cross stitch to fill in the patterns or motifs.
This stitch is not reversible. While it shows up like cross fillings on the front of the fabric, the reverse will be just vertical or horizontal, or even diagonal lines.

Running stitch is a simple embroidery stitch that is good for making dashed outlines and adding details to your embroidery. 

The ​straight stitch hardly requires an explanation, because it is as simple as bringing the needle up through the fabric and then going back down.

Stem stitch is another basic stitch that's perfect for creating smooth outlines. It works well for both straight lines and curves, and despite its name, it isn't only for embroidering stems.

Lucknowi Chikankari is one of its kind hand embroidery, a variety of stitching styles are involved in chikan embroidery. It takes many years for an artisan to master the techniques of chikankari, chikan embroidery requires discipline and precision of detail in its formation. As a result, this art cannot be replicated anywhere. There are 32 stitches of chikankari, which are broadly classified into Raised stitch, Embossed and Flat stitch and Open Trellis.

Kantha (also spelled kanta, and qanta) is a type of embroidery craft in the eastern regions of the Indian subcontinent, specifically in Bangladesh and in the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura and Odisha. In Odisha, old saris are stacked on each other and hand-stitched to make a thin piece of cushion.

The Kutch Embroidery is a handicraft and textile signature art tradition of the tribal community of Kutch District in Gujarat, India. This embroidery with its rich designs has made a notable contribution to the Indian embroidery traditions. 
Kashmiri embroidery which is also called as the Kashida embroidery is a unique form of art, staying true to the beauty of paradise state.
