In the evening, we were privileged to have Prof. Manoj Kulchania from the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University. His back-to-back sessions on "Payout Policy Research" and "My Perspective on Writing Research Papers in Academia" were incredibly enlightening and inspiring. Grateful for the enriching experiences and knowledge gained!

On April 19th, 2024, the 18th Batch of the Post Graduate Program for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM) held its Inauguration ceremony at IIM Calcutta. The program aims to develop visionary leaders for the manufacturing sector in India, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the global competitiveness of our manufacturing industry.

The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Mr. NAKAGAWA Koichi, Consul-General of Japan in Kolkata and Prof. Bhaskar Chakrabarti, Director-in-Charge (Acting) and Dean (Academic Programmes), IIM Calcutta, along with other dignitaries associated with the PGPEX-VLM program. These dignitaries included Ms. Shigeko INABA, JICA Expert (Business Networking / Project Coordinator), Sustainable Global Business Breakthrough Ecosystem (SGBBE) Project, Prof. Deepu Philip, Coordinator, PGPEX-VLM, IIT Kanpur, Prof. M. Thenmozhi, Head of Department of Management Studies and Head, CAMS-IITM Fintech Innovation Lab, IIT Madras (Online), Mr G Sunderraman, Executive Vice President-Corporate Development - Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd and Chairman, CII VLFM Senior Advisory Committee (Online), and Prof. Yukio YOKOI, Nagoya University, Japan (Online).

Prof. Bhaskar Chakrabarti emphasized that the PGPEX-VLM program is one of the most innovative and unique programs at IIM Calcutta. It has been featured and greatly appreciated in the Institute's international accreditation reviews many times.

Mr. Nakagawa Koichi, Consul-General of Japan in Kolkata, the chief guest of the event, highlighted the long-lasting industrial cooperation and foreign collaboration between Japan and India Governments. He congratulated the group for enrolling in this program to provide visionary leaders for the manufacturing industry in India.

The students of the 18th batch of PGPEX-VLM gained deeper insights into the program and present industrial scenario from the various keynote addresses given by the distinguished dignitaries.

Prof. Sudhir Jaiswall, Chairperson of PGPEX-VLM, concluded the ceremony by wishing the 18th batch the very best for their journey ahead.
