Illicit liquor sellers gang busted by Leh Police.

On 7/6/22 PP Housing colony and PP Khalsi arrested a lady namely Zangmi w/o Karchen Sherpa r/o Nepal, A/P Skara with 21 lit liquor and Punchoke Stobgail s/o Tsering Dorjai r/o Akshoo Zanskar with 123lit liquor respectively. They were planning to sell the liquor in black market and accordingly case has been registered in PS Leh.

1.1kgs of Charas like substance apprehended by one Samser Sheikh s/o Shantu Sheikh r/o Murshidabad, WB by Leh police on 11/5/2022. The accused had concealed the contraband in medicine bottles and beedi packets and was supposed to sell the contraband among locals. FIR 60/22 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Leh and further investigation has been started.

*District Police Leh organises various awareness programme in and around Leh City*

Leh, 15th April:
In continuation to public outreach/awareness programmes, Women Police Station Leh today organised a Women Safety Awareness Programme at Changspa Community Hall Leh in which large number of women groups including women president Anjuman-e- imamia, Anjuman moin-ul-Islam, women alliance groups of the area participated, wherein SHO Women Police Station Leh and Law officer PHQ Ladakh, social worker special cell for women have sensitized the participants about various issues related to women like atrocities/crime against women, sexual harrasment at work place, domestic violance and and other social crimes emerging in the society and urged women to use the services of Women Police Station and women help desks established exclusively for the women in distress and use Dial 112 for lodging of any complaint without any hesitation and urged the participants to co-operate with the local police and inform about women related incident to Women Police Station immediately, so that prompt and early action under law is taken.
Further Cyber Crime Unit Leh also organised a awareness programme on cyber crime at ITBP 5th Bn Choglamsar Leh, wherein a team of cyber crime unit officers headed by I/C Cyber crime unit Leh sensitized the Jawans and officers of ITBP 5th Bn about various cyber frauds like online scam, OTP fraud, OLX fraud, Ponzi schemes and also aware them not to fall prey to the fraudsters who ask you to install/down load suspicious remote access apps like team viewer/quick support/Any Desk etc and also sensitized to visit the official website of the concerned banks for genuine customer care numbers.

The participants at both the locations expressed their gratitude and appreciation to district police Leh for conducting such awareness programme and request for conducting such kind of awareness programmes in future also.

*District Police Leh takes the cognizance of a viral video of Pangong lake side driving*

Leh, 13th April:
District police Leh has lodged an FIR in PS Nyoma with regard to the viral video being circulated in the various social media platforms in which some tourists were found driving a car along the shore of the Pangong Lake. As per the preliminary enquiry the incident had happened the last year yet given the gravity of offence, cognizance has been taken, and FIR under relevant sections of law has been lodged and investigation started.

It is pertinent to mention here that already 02 different FIRs for the same kind of incidents have been registered at PS Nyoma last year and involved accused (tourists) were also arrested.

District Police Leh once again requests the visiting tourists to be cautious while visiting the world famous tourists spots like Pangong lake to be sensitive towards the ecology of the place. Besides being scenic, it is the home for a large number of migratory birds who come for hatching, and these kind of incidents disturb their habitat and damages the ecosystem.

It is to inform all the candidates of Ladakh Police Constable recruitment, that from tomorrow dated 28th March 2022 the recruitment shall be conducted at NDS Stadium Leh as per the Schedule date of the Ladakh police recruitment board:
1. That the entry of all the candidates shall be allowed from Tharpaling Gate (post office side of the gate) only.
2. For any queries and assistant there shall be a *HELP DESK* at the Tharpaling Gate for the assistant/ compliant if any by the candidates regarding admit card and other related issues.

*District Police Leh arrested a drug peddler, recovered Contraband substances*

Leh, 15th March:

District Police Leh continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, today arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party of Police Post Housing Colony Leh established a random Naka checking at Airport road Skalzangling Leh, during checking, the naka party recovered the following contraband substances, *Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, 1330 capsules, Tramadol Hydrochloride, 96 Tablets and G***a 60 grams* from the possession of one person namely Waseem Khan S/O Karimmullah R/O Skyanos Leh and the person was arrested. In this regard, case FIR No 28/2022 under relevant section of Law has been registered at Police Station Leh and investigation has been started.

District Police Leh requests general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers and join hands with police in fight against the menace of drugs in the district.

*District Police Leh Conducts Police -Public interaction meeting at Ibex Colony Leh*

Leh, 12th March:
In continuation to public outreach programmes, District Police Leh today conducted a Police -Public interaction meeting at *Ibex Colony Leh* while observing Covid protocol/social distancing norms.

The police-public meeting was chaired by DySp Hqr. Leh, Regzin Sandup JKPS, besides SHO Leh, Insp Sonam Rigzin, IC PP Housing Colony, Insp Rigzin Gurmath, SHO Women Police Station Leh Sub Inspector Stanzin Palkit were also present. The meeting was attended by Nambardars, Women alliance members and other respectable citizens and youngster of the area. During the interaction meeting, the district police officers informed the participants about the growing menace of drugs and liquor especially among the youth. The people were also informed about registration of tenants with the concerned police stations/ Police Posts on priority and made aware about the crime against women and children, cyber frauds, financial frauds, thefts and growing road accidents in the Leh city and urged them to co-operate with the local police and inform about any incident in the area to the concerned Police Station, so that prompt and early action under law is taken.

The participants/ Namberdars also raised various issues of public importance related to police and civil administration, while giving patient hearing to the issues raised by general public, DySp Hqr and team have assured them that their genuine grievances will be resolved on priority and every possible help will be provided to the people of the area and issues related to civil administration will be taken up with concerned departments for their early redressal.

Further, the police officers sought cooperation from the participants in maintaining peace & stability in the area, besides eradicating various social evils especially drug menace, crime against women and children and other social crimes emerging in the society and urged women to use the service Women Police Station and women help desks established at all police stations and police posts of Leh exclusively for the women in distress and use dial 112 for lodging of any complaint without any hesitation.

The participants in the meeting headed by numberdars expressed their gratitude and appreciation to district police Leh for conducting such police-public interaction meeting and assured their full cooperation to district police Leh in tackling social evils.

*HIT & RUN CASE SOLVED BY POLICE POST HOUSING COLONY WITHIN 03 HOURS*

On 06.03.2022 at around 06:40 PM Police Post Housing Colony recieved an information from reliable source that an unknown vehicle had hit and seriously injured a pedestrian namely Tashi Yangzom D/O Nawang Tanter R/O Chemdey Leh near EJM deegree College Leh later succumbed to the injuries.

On this Case FIR No. 22/2022 U/S 279, 304A, 201 IPC was registered at Police Station Leh and investigation was started. Police parties from Police Station Leh, Police Post Choglamsar and Police Post Housing Colony led by respective incharge swung into action and after strenuous efforts, the Police Post Housing Colony succeeded in arresting the accused driver namely Ali Asgar S/O Mohd Hussain R/O Phayang along with the vehicle (Xylo white color, Taxi) bearing registration No JK10A 4895 who fled away from the accident site

In another case Police Post Housing Colony lead by Insp. Rigzin Gurmet solved a Hit and Run Case which was registered on 22/02/2022 under case FIR No15/2022 U/S 279,337IPC and arrested the accused driver namely Tashi Phunchok S/O Tashi Angail R/O Koyoul Changthang and seized the vehicle Bolero camper (white colour) bearing Registration No.JK 10A 1985 who was also evading arrest.

~_*POLICE STATION NUBRA CELEBRATE AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV*_

Leh, 5th March:
In continuation to the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav week, Police Station Nubra Sub-Division today conducted various programmes, in which *Police Post Turtuk* conducted cleanliness drive in the Turtuk Market and adjoining areas, all the police personnel posted in the PP Turtuk and the villagers participated in the cleanliness drive.
In another event *Police Post Panamik* conducted a painting competition in the premises of Police Post in which students/childrens of the Panamik area participated, besides *Police Station Nubra* headed by Insp Tsewang Dorjay SHO also conducted a traffic awareness programme at Deskit market to mark the *75 years of Independence celebration* in which all the drivers of taxi, Bus, truck and other private vehicles were participated and aware them about the increasing trends of accidents in the region and advise them to avoid rash driving, druken driving, use of seat belt and helmet and also appeal to Taxi drivers for extending maximum help to the tourist and passengers.
Local population at all the locations have highly appreciated the efforts of district police Leh for such initiatives and programme and requested for conduct of more such event in future.

District Police Leh Celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at NDS Stadium Leh

Leh, 3rd March 2022:

In connection with the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, District Police Leh organised one week physical training camp for the upcoming Ladakh Police Constable recruitment from 3rd March to 10th March 2022.
The programme/ training camp was inaugurated by SSP Leh Ms, PD Nitya, IPS.

DySp Hqr Leh, Sh Rigzin Sangdup, JKPS, welcomed the aspirants and briefed them about the free physical training camp, the rules and regulations and physical standards of the upcoming Ladakh Police constable recruitment, also thanked the district Leh youth services and sports department, who provided PET teachers to train the young aspirants and educate them about the technique of running on track and sorting their mistakes while running. More than 600 students/ aspirants (Boys and Girls) from Leh and Kargil registered for the Ist day and the participation is expected to increase in the remaining days.

SSP leh, while speaking on the occasion stated that the main aim of the free physical training camp is to aware the students/aspirants about the upcoming Ladakh Police Constable recruitment and advises the students/aspirants to make them self physically fit through this free training camp so that they can give better performance in the upcoming physical test for the post of constable in Ladakh Police which is going to be held soon. She stressed that the aspirants should take maximum benefit out of the free training camp.

Later she along with other officer distributed Pamphlets among the students/aspirants containing detailed information regarding the selection process, physical standards, syallabus etc for the Ladakh Police constable recruitment.

*Cyber Crime Unit of Distt Police Leh successfully solved a Cyber fraud case and recovered an amount of Rs. 132301/- within 2 days*

Leh, 18th January 2022:

On 16.02.2022, Cyber Crime unit Leh received a complaint from one Mr Prasad P S/O Peethambaram R/O Kerala, A/P posted and working in 753-BRTF-GREEF station Thiksay Leh Ladakh, wherein he stated that, some unknown person/fraudster had fraudulently transferred an amount of Rs 132301/- from his SBI Account through Yono SBI app (mobile banking). As the complainant was getting some technical issues while using Yono SBI App, he contacted customer care number of Yono SBI which he found on Google search that turned out to be a fake contact number. Upon following the instructions given by the fake customer care executive, the complainant was asked to enter key words *KYC quick customer support* on google play store and installed "Team viewer, Quick support" application (a desktop/mobile screen sharing app) which the fraudulent used to hack his mobile and realized the transaction of Rs 132301/- from his SBI account without the knowledge of the complainant.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Cyber crime unit district police Leh, swung into action and through persistent investigation the team succeeded in retrieving the fraudulently deducted full amount within two days and handed over the hard earned money to the victim.
It is pertinent to mention for the information of general public that whosoever gets victimised in such fraudulent scams should immediately report to cyber crime unit of District Police Leh for immediate action on Ph no. 01982-252200, e-mail [email protected] OR Dial 112 or visit the nearest police unit.

District Police Leh once again urges the general public not to fall prey to the fraudsters who ask you to install/download suspicious remote access apps like Team viewer, Quick support, AnyDesk, Screenleap, Mikogo, Splashtop,
etc and ask for OTPs, paswords.
While searching for genuine customer care numbers always visit the official website of the said bank, company and always check backside of credit card/Debit card issued by the banks for customer care numbers.

On 16.02.2022 police post choglamsar recieved an information from reliable source that an unknown vehicle haf hit and injured two pedestrians namely Dechen Angmo D/O Jigmet Namgail R/O sheynam Leh and Diskit Dolma D/O Rigzin Wangdus R/O Taksha Nubra near KV School choglamsar.

On this Case FIR No. 13/2022 U/S 279, 337 IPC was registered at Police Station Leh and investigation was started. Police party from Police post Choglamsar led by Insp. Stanzin Paljor swung into action and after strenuous efforts, the police team succeeded in arresting the accused namely Stanzin Gurmet S/O Tashi Norbo R/O Domkar along with the vehicle bearing registration No. LA02-3646 WagonR car.

SSP Leh Ms PD Nitya-IPS today visited Nobra Subdivision from 29th Jan to 31st Jan, where she was welcomed by BDC chairman Sh Gyatsho, SDM Nobra Sh Lakshay Singhal- IAS, Sarpanchs, Panchs, women alliances & Lamas of Diskit monastery.

Enquiry has been initiated in the denial of entry of Hon'ble Councillors incident on R-day function.

On 26th January 2022 at around 1055 hrs, some Hon'ble Councillors, who were the invitees to attend the Republic Day Function at Pologround were stopped from entering the DC office parking gate due to some miscommunication.

Upon intervention of some seniors officers the matter couldn't get resolved and the Hon'ble councillors left the venue. The incident caused a deep embarassment for the Hon'ble Councillors and the inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

In order to find the cause of such incident and find the officer so responsible for such an unfortunate incident, an enquiry is being conducted at District police level. The matter has been taken up with utmost seriousness by all the senior officers and strict action shall be taken against the personnel responsible.

Leh, 21 Jan:

On 16/01/2022, a complaint was received by Police Post Housing Colony Leh from a person namely Padma Angchuk S/O Tsering Phunchok R/O Heniskot Kargil labour by profession to the effect that on 14th, Jan 2022, three unknown persons driving in a Santro Car had abducted him and his friend from New Bus Stand Leh and took them to Skampari area and extorted an amount of Rs 16000/= from him. The victim further said that he came to Leh for purchasing of some household items, on reaching Leh he met with his friend namely Lobzang Takpa of Zanskar at Skalzangling, who is also a labour by profession, they both went to New Bus Stand Leh for having some food in a restaurant, after having food, the duo were searching for a hotel room near bus stand for night stay as the complainant as well as his friend didn't have any accomodation here at Leh, as they were searching for a room, the duo encountered the accused namely Rigzen Dorjay S/O Tsering Dorjay R/O Lingshed and his accomplice vis Manish KC S/O Lal Bahadur KC R/O Nepal who told them that they will arrange a better room for night stay and then forcefully took them in their santo car driven by Manish KC , & took them to Skampari area where they were joined by the their third accomplice namely Jatin Sharma S/O Raghu Sharma R/O Jammu, there the trio threatened the complainant and his friend and extorted
Rs 16000/- cash from complainant Padma Angchuk. The trio also beaten the victims with fists and blows and threatened them with dire consequences if they inform police or anybody else.
In this instance a Case FIR No 03/2022 U/S 364A, 392,394, 506/IPC was registered against unknown persons and investigation started and on the basis of the body description and the their attire provided by the victims, Leh police sent different police search parties and succeeded in arresting all the three accused who committed this heinous crime, during the investigation the trio have confessed their involvement in commiting the crime and on their confessions and disclosure Rs, 9600 (nine thousand six hundred) has been recovered by police along with the Santro Car bearing registration No DL 2CAD.8190 white colour, used by the accused and accomplices in commiting the crime. Further investigation is ongoing for involvement of these accused persons in any other criminal activities.
It is pertinent to mention that general public is again requested to inform police or Dial 112 without any hesitation if such incidents happen with them.

The Additional Director General of Police UT Ladakh, Sh S.S Khandare-IPS today inaugurated Dry Canteen facility Centre at District Police Lines Leh. The ADGP was accompanied by senior police officers of Ladakh Police including Sh Sheikh Junaid Mehmood-IPS DIG Leh- Kargil Range, Ms PD Nitya-IPS SSP Leh & Sh Sonam Dechan-JKPS AIG Prov PHQ.
On the inaugural function, ADGP Ladakh congratulated SSP Leh for the launch of canteen facility for the Jawans and families of District Police Leh/Ladakh Police which can also be used by general public. SSP Leh briefed about the functioning of the said canteen & the items available in the canteen which are priced quite cheaper than the market price. The canteen provides almost all types of payment options for the customers like cash payments, POS machine, UPI & mpay like payment options to facilitate hassle free transactions. The Dry Canteen faciltity shall remain open for general public from 10:00 Am to 04:00 PM, Monday to Saturday in a week
Later ADGP Ladakh conducted on ground inspection of all the ongoing construction projects being executed in the district police lines and directed the concerned Ex. Engineer and JEs of R&B department and the contractors for timely completion of the projects as per project deadline.
The ADGP also chaired a detailed review meeting at Indus Hall DPL regarding the ongoing project works & their progress reports and the new projects to be implemented in the next year like Solar retrofitting, green houses, major repair of old buildings and macadamization of internal DPL roads & improving the family quarters infrastructure for the families of police personnel residing there.

Further she urged women to use the service of women help desks established at all police stations and police posts of Leh exclusively for the women in distress and use dial 112 for lodging of any complaint without any hesitation.
The participants were also sensitised about the spike of Covid-19 cases in the district and were requested to spread awareness among masses to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

The participants in the meeting especially women members expressed their gratitude and appreciation to SSP Leh for conducting police-public interaction meeting at Khalsi Sub-division and assured their full cooperation to district police Leh in tackling social evils.

Later SSP Leh checked the screening point at Khalsi TCP and directed the concerned officer/officials from police and civil administration to effectively conduct the screening of passenger and drivers to contain further spread of Covid 19 cases.

Cyber Crime Unit of Distt Police Leh successfully solved a Cyber fraud case and recovered an amount of Rs. 56991/- within 3 days

Leh, 14th Jan:

On 10.01.2022, Cyber Crime unit Leh received a complaint from one Tashi Samstan S/O Sonam Dorjay R/O Zanskar wherein he stated that, some unknown person had fraudulently transferred an amount of Rs56,991/- from his SBI Account through Yono SBI app. As the complainant was getting some technical issues while using Yono SBI App, he contacted customer care number of Yono SBI which he found on Google search that turned out to be a fake contact number. Upon following the instructions given by the fake customer care executive, the complainant installed AnyDesk application(a desktop/mobile screen sharing app) which the fraudulent used to hack his mobile and realized the transaction of Rs 56,991, without the knowledge of the complainant.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Cyber crime unit district police Leh, swung into action and through persistent investigation the team succeeded in retrieving the fraudulently deducted full amount within three days and handed over the hard earned money to the victim.
It is pertinent to mention for the information of general public that whosoever gets victimised in such fraudulent scams should immediately report to cyber crime unit of District Police Leh for immediate action on ph no. 01982-252200 OR Dial 112 or visit the nearest police unit.

District Police Leh urges the general public not to fall prey to the fraudsters who ask you to install suspicious apps, ask OTPs, paswords, etc. While searching for genuine customer care numbers always visit the website of the said bank, company etc.

The Cyber fraud case was solve by a team of cyber crime unit investigation officers headed by Inspector Stanzin Paljor, PSI Mehdi khan, PSI Ileyas and Ct.Abdul Gani under the close supervision of SSP Leh Ms PD Nitya IPS.
