World No To***co Day (WNTD) is observed around the world every year on 31 May. The Member States of the WHO created World No To***co Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the to***co epidemic and the preventable death and disease it causes.

This yearly celebration informs the public on the dangers of using to***co, the business practices of to***co companies, what the World Health Organization (WHO) is doing to fight against the use of to***co, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations.

The day is further intended to draw attention to the widespread prevalence of to***co use and to negative health effects, which currently lead to more than 8 million deaths each year worldwide, including 1.2 million are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.

Spread the word against to***co and raise awareness. Have an awareful World No To***co Day!

"A mother is someone who can take place of all others but whose place no one else can take." — Cardinal Mermillod

The Marketing Forum wishes everyone a very Happy Mother's Day ! ❤

"Mother is the heartbeat in the home; and without her, there seems to be no heart throb" - Leroy Brownlow

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.

It is believed the modern Mother’s Day celebration first began in the US, when a woman by the name of Anna Jarvis wanted the day to be commemorated because her own mother had expressed such a desire. When she passed away, Jarvis held a memorial for her, circa 1908, three years after her death. It was done at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in West Virginia. [Source Wikipedia]

What started as Jarvis’ way of honoring her mother, got picked up by other countries over the years, as a way to love, cherish and honour mothers everywhere.

The Marketing Forum wishes all mothers a Happy Mothers Day! Thank you for everything you’ve done for us. It’s more than we can ever express.

May Day or International Workers’ Day or Labour Day is celebrated all over the world, including India on the 1st of May. Like in most countries, on May Day, public and Government offices, schools, and colleges remain closed. This day celebrates labourers and encourages them to be aware of their rights.

In 1889, a body of socialist groups and trade unions, in the US designated May 1 as a day for workers. This was in remembrance of the Haymarket Riots in Chicago in 1886. May 1 in Europe, has historically always been linked with rural traditional farmers' festivals but later on May Day became associated with the modern labour movement.

The day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement. Working class was once asked to work for more than 8 hours a day and was paid less. The movement gave rights to workers that under no circumstances should workers be asked to work for more than 8 hours a day.

Workers are the invisible backbone of a nation, as a nation is only able to stand strong because of them. Happy May Day to the workers!

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. In 1969 at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco, peace activist John McConnell proposed a day to honor the Earth and the concept of peace, to first be observed on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere.

Today, Earth Day is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behavior and create global, national and local policy changes.

The theme of Earth Day 2021 is “Restore Our Earth”. The climate change and coronavirus pandemic have reminded us of the harm we've caused. Thus, we must Restore Our Earth not just because we care about the natural world, but because we live on it.

Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion on a day called Good Friday. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday following the full moon that occurs on or after the Spring Equinox.

Traditionally, Christians spend this day in a church in prayer and celebration of the life of Christ. A special meal is prepared and enjoyed with family and friends later in the day. Modern traditions such as Easter eggs and the Easter bunny have emerged from various legends.

Consuming eggs was not allowed by church elders during the week before Easter. Those eggs were decorated and called ‘Holy Week’ eggs and were then given to children as gifts. This tradition was then adapted by Victorians to include small easter gifts in hollow cardboard eggs. This has now developed into the hollow chocolate eggs filled with gifts that everyone enjoys.

The Easter bunny legend emerges from the 19th-century belief that rabbits were a symbol of new life since they gave birth to a big litter of babies. According to another legend, the Easter bunny lays, decorates, and hides eggs which gave birth to the Easter egg hunt that many children enjoy today.

Hope you all have a safe and happy Easter Sunday!

And how glad are we that the 75th edition falls on the auspicious day of Holi!

Holi celebrates the arrival of spring, the end of winter, and for many it is a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. The festival also celebrates the beginning of a good spring harvest season.

Holi celebrations start on the night before Holi with a Holika Dahan where people gather, perform religious rituals in front of the bonfire, and pray that their internal evil be destroyed the way Holika, the sister of the demon king Hiranyakashipu, was killed in the fire. The next morning is celebrated as Rangwali Holi (Dhuleti) – a festival of colors, where people cover each other with colors.

In these trying times we hope you have a safe Holi with your loved ones! The Marketing Forum wishes everyone a Happy Holi and may the year ahead be as cheerful and colorful as the days of Holi!

World Water Day is an annual United Nations observance day (March 22) that emphasizes the importance of freshwater. The day is used to promote the responsible management of freshwater resources.

Water day's themes revolve around the issues related to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), which aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Every year around World Water Day, the UN World Water Development Report (WWDR) is launched.

Water can mean wellbeing, sanitation, dignity, and efficiency in homes, schools, and workplaces. Water should represent a relationship with creation, community, and oneself in artistic, religious, and spiritual settings. Water should represent peace, unity, and preservation in natural settings. Water is under severe threat today due to a global population, increased agricultural and industrial demands, and the deteriorating effects of climate change. [Source UN Water]

World Consumer Rights Day was influenced by former US President John F Kennedy, who sent a special letter to the US Congress on 15 March 1962, in which he officially discussed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first global leader to do so. The consumer movement first marked the day in 1983 and is now using it every year to organize change on critical topics and campaigns around consumer rights.

Most businesses are trying to minimize unfavorable customer encounters because they are not reflective of their market. They understand the importance of customers and their rights. In most countries, there are rules that help protect the interests of consumers. Businesses today look towards these rules to enter any market in a country to ensure proper functioning.

Examples of customer protection are the rights to:

To have access to basic goods and resources required for survival
Protect yourself from dangerous goods or facilities
Data on goods and services
Choose from a wide range of premium goods and services
Speech a complaint about a product or service
Education and image of customers

Several countries conduct conferences on human rights on this day. Fresh proposals for the defense of customer rights are often often revealed. This year's celebrations will be more on ensuring Sustainability for customers.

After the Socialist Party of America organized a Women's Day in New York City on February 28, 1909, German delegates Clara Zetkin, Käte Duncker, Paula Thiede and others proposed at the 1910 International Socialist Woman's Conference that "a special Women's Day" be organized annually. After women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917, March 8 became a national holiday there. The day was then predominantly celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until it was adopted by the feminist movement in about 1967. (Source - Wikipedia)

Commemoration of International Women's Day today celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day (8 March), “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world,” celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the gaps that remain. All of us speak at least one mother tongue — a language spoken since early childhood, while growing up. But did you know that there was a time when people were giving up their lives for their right to speak it? In Bangladesh on 21 February 1952 after the partition of India in 1947, Pakistan declared Urdu as a national language in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).

There were a lot of Bangla speakers in East Pakistan. In 1952, when the other languages were declared invalid, students and ordinary citizens of Dhaka University started the movement. To stop the agitation, the police started firing on the students and protesters in which many students died. Today is also celebrated as Memorial Day in the memory of the martyrs who died fighting for their mother tongue.

In November 1999, the UNESCO General Assembly decided to celebrate International Mother Language Day from 2000 to 21 February every year to attract the world's attention towards the preservation and promotion of the languages of the world which are in crisis somewhere.

International Mother Language Day recognizes that languages and multilingualism can advance inclusion, and the Sustainable Development Goals’ focus on leaving no one behind.

Martyrs' Day (Shaheed Diwas) is observed in India on five days to honor those who laid down their lives for the nation. Of these five, January 30 is the date that is observed on the national level. The date marks the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi by Nathuram Godse in 1948.

Mahatma Gandhi led India's independence movement culminated in the country getting freedom on August 15, 1947. He used truth and non-violence as his tools during India's freedom struggle against British colonial rule. He was shot in the Birla House compound in New Delhi at the age of 78 by Nathuram Godse.

On Martyrs' Day, the President, the Vice President, the Prime Minister, the Defence Minister, and the three Service Chiefs gather at Mahatma Gandhi's samadhi at Raj Ghat and lay wreaths decorated with multi-color flowers. Namaste TAPMIans,

The Constitution of India, which was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, came into effect on January 26, 1950. This completed India's transition towards becoming an independent republic with a democratic government system. January 26 was also chosen as the day to mark Republic Day because it was on this day that the Indian National Congress (INC) proclaimed the Declaration of Indian Independence in 1929. This was contrary to the 'dominion' status offered by the British and was celebrated as Poorna Swaraj Day for the next 17 years.

The Indian Republic Day is celebrated all across India with lots of patriotism and fervor. At Rajpath, in Delhi, magnificent parades by regiments of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, police, and paramilitary forces are witnessed. India’s defensive prowess is on display too, with the latest missiles, aircraft, and weapon systems. Beautiful tableaus, representing the uniqueness of all the states of India are also showcased during the parade. The celebration usually ends with numerous air shows and flypasts by the Indian Forces.

The Marketing Forum would like to wish everyone a very Happy Republic Day. May this Republic Day lend each and every heart great spirits and love for the country.

Hola TAPMIans,

National Girl Child Day is to provide support and opportunities to the girls of India. It also aims towards promoting awareness about the rights of the girl child and to increase awareness on the importance of girl education, and their health and nutrition.

The Indian government has taken several steps over the years to change this and improve the conditions of girls. Several campaigns and programs such as Save the Girl Child, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, free or subsidised education for the girl children, reservations for women in colleges and universities have been initiated to reduce this discrimination.

International Day of the Girls Child reminds us that it is our responsibility to give them the importance they deserve and work together towards a better future!

Hello TAPMIans,

India is home to the world’s largest vaccine makers and has one of the biggest immunization programs. Indian authorities hope to give shots to 300 million people, roughly the population of the U.S and several times more than its existing program, which targets 26 million infants. The recipients include 30 million doctors, nurses and other front-line workers, to be followed by 270 million people who are either over 50 or have illnesses that make them vulnerable to COVID-19.

Nearly a year after India reported its first case of coronavirus from Kerala, the "start of the end of the pandemic", as Health Minister Harsh Vardhan described it on Friday, began this morning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching the nationwide rollout. The government aims to vaccinate 1 crore healthcare workers and 2 crore frontline workers in the first phase.

The Indian government granted emergency approval to two vaccines — a locally manufactured version of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and a vaccine called Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech, an Indian pharmaceutical company.

Only the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine has completed a Phase 3 clinical trial for safety and efficacy. Bharat Biotech has finished earlier-stage trials on its vaccine but has provided no data on whether it works. Yet both vaccines are being administered, and people cannot choose which vaccine they receive.

Hello TAPMIans,

In 2011 President Barack Obama issued a Presidential Proclamation, designating each January to be National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. The anniversary of this proclamation became known as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

In the Senate Resolution establishing Human Trafficking Awareness Day, the U.S. refuses to let human trafficking exist in the United States and around the world and commits to actively oppose all individuals, groups, organizations, and nations who support, advance, or commit acts of human trafficking.

Scan the QR code below to raise awareness and potentially save peoples lives by educating yourself more about the despicable act of human trafficking and what you can do if you suspect anyone of being a victim or organizer of this terrifying act.
