1 If your child talks back to you, it is because they watch you do it to others and think its normal behaviour.

2.If your child doesn’t listen to you but listens to others, it is because you are too quick to jump to conclusions

3. If your child rebels it is because they know you care more about what others think than what is right

A number of children are brought to doctors with skin rashes these days.
Some of these rashes are vesicular, have some water in them, are mainly at palms, soles, buttocks, elbows, knees and at perioral area. All the above sites may or may not be affected. Sometimes, it may be accompanied by oral ulcers.
Few points to note:
1. some of us call it Hand foot mouth disease.
2. It is not chicken pox. In chicken pox, chest, abdomen and back are more affected than extremities.
3. it is viral illness.
4. it is self limiting. Usually child recovers in a week.
5. it is highly contagious. We should not send the child to the school with this illness.
6. treatment is mainly to relieve itching. Antibiotics have no role.

6. If your child is cowardly, it is because you help them too quickly.

7. If your child does not respect other people’s feelings, it is because instead of speaking to your child, you order and command them.

8. If your child is too quick to anger, it is because you give too much attention to misbehaviour and you give little attention to good behaviour.

9. If your child is excessively jealous, it is because you only congratulate them when they successfully complete something and not when they improve at something even if they don’t successfully complete it.

Some thoughts which as parents we may consider to improve interaction between us:
Part 1,
1. If your child lies to you often, it is because you over-react too harshly to their inappropriate behaviour.

2. If your child is not taught to confide in you about their mistakes, you’ve lost them.

3. If your child had poor self-esteem, it is because you advice them more than you encourage them.

4. If your child does not stand up for themselves, it is because from a young age you have disciplined them regularly in public.

5. If your child takes things that do not belong to them, it is because when you buy them things, you don’t let them chose what they want.

Bedwetting is an issue we all face with our children and to mark such a hurdle, today is World Bedwetting Day. Did you know that it is now officially recognised as a medical condition from 5 years of age? It can have lots of different causes and it is certainly not your child's fault. These things just happen!

Learning from kids
My child does not eat, is one of the commonest concern of parents. Over the years, I have been explaining to parents, how to deal with it? But we keep on learning. I am sharing few observations which other parents may also notice.
I was taking my dinner. My two year old granddaughter came to me. I offered a cooked mutter piece. She rejected it. The next moment, she picked a piece from my plate and ate it.
At this age, kids want to imitate. She saw that her grandfather was eating on his own. She wanted to do the same herself.
There are times when she first offers food to her toy dog, then eats herself. Sometimes, we offer food to pigeons or monkey as a game, then she accepts. Sometimes, she accepts food while she is playing with water.
My regular advice has been that whenever child feels hungry, child will eat. But now I observe and other parents have conveyed that a hungry child becomes irritable. It becomes difficult to calm him/her. Now, I feel that diversion of mind may be justified in some situations.
Few suggestions:
1. Treat the child as an individual. The child will decide what to eat, when to eat and how much to eat.
2. Child's likes and dislikes often change.
3. It is for us as parents to decide what not to give. Avoid junk foods, excess of salt, sugar or ghee and butter.
4. The end result of eating is that the child should be active.

Running hospital is not just profession, at Anand mother and child hospital, we cherish all moments of our team. Celebrating birthday of our colleague doctor though we call it our Anand Family that too with home made cake. , ,

We can never express enough gratitude to mothers for what they have sacrificed, they have done for their children. Whenever a small child has insecurity, he/she hugs the mother. For the child, she is the God, her infallible support.

It is a pleasure when a newborn arrives. AMCH staff is delighted at this moment. We are grateful to parents and family for giving us this opportunity.

There are medical, administrative, social, emotional and economic challenges when one takes care of critically sick child. We as a team at Anand mother and child hospital are doing our the best to face the situations. Salute to all the institutions public or private, who are taking care of such multiple sick individuals and their relatives.

Holi is festival of colours, happiness, joy, friendship, and love. It gives us immense happiness when our staff both at Anand nursing home Borivali East and ai Anand mother and child hospital at Malad East are happy, and consider these units as their family.

Our children create beauty in the universe. They have unlimited imagination without inhibition. Besides our regular teachers, children are also our teachers. They give us smile for no reson, brighten up our day. They are grateful while receiving gift of tiny objects. We can see satisfaction in their eyes. They fight with siblings, friends but the next moment they are laughing, playing together. They teach us to give up grudges quickly.

AMCH salutes all the women for shouldering immense responsibilities with courage, care, love and compassion.
